Firecracker Lacquer - Your Mom Thought I Was Big Enough & Girl Fight

Hey all,
Happy Canada Day!
Time for more Firecracker Lacquer!

Your Mom Thought I Was Big Enough

sunlight
This is a very sheer multichrome polish, shifting though blue, purple, red and orange.
And a linear holographic with varying sizes of holographic bits.
I decided to show it off over a dark purple creme, Barry M - Plum.

indirect artificial light
The different sizes of holo give this polish awesome depth.
Kendahl aced the space theme, this really is a galaxy in a bottle. Incredibly stunning!

indirect sunlight
I was curious to see how it would look with other undies, so I did a little tester.
L-R - one coat over black, one coat over silver, one coat over white & 3 coats alone.

Which undies do you like best? What would you pair it with?

Next up...
Girl Fight

sunlight
Girl Fight is a magenta jelly with pink/purple shifting glitters and a hint of holo.
This is two coats. The formula was super easy to work with.

Kendahl describes this as a bruise, if bruises were more girly.
The first thing I though of when I put this on was showgirl. So now I'm calling it Showgirl Fight.

It's so full of glittery joy that it dries down a little bumpy.
One thick layer of topcoat and you ready to duke it out!

I'm so taken with how squishy and twinkly this is. Super summery sparkling raspberry jello.
Yet again I'm super impressed with Firecracker lacquer.

Or check out Firecracker Lacquer's Facebook or Instagram.

Alright y'all, time to spend the rest of Canada Day with a crochet hook in my hand.
Have a good one!

Jesus is Just Alright With Me

Hey all,
Yesterday was a strange day for me.
The first family gathering since my grandmother's memorial.
The conclusion of which was my acceptance of her ashes.

It's like some crappy coming of age moment.
Trying to come to terms with a 2.5 lb plastic canister that used to be so much more.
But it is better to have loved and lost.
I'm glad I'm experiencing all these thoughts and feelings.
It meant I felt. A great deal.

I wanted to do something my Nana would really like.
She was a good Christian woman, so only Jesus would do.

I was going for a Jesus meets Barbie theme. Barry M - Grapefruit was exactly the pink I needed.
The flowers remind me of sheets Nana had, which I didn't even realize till a day after painting.

All the stamping is done with Konad polish. I used MoYou Artist Plate 12 & BM224.
For that extra dose of wonder I added Northern Lights Topcoat.

I love how this manicure turned out.
I am not a practising Christian, there's definitely an element of humour to this.
But I absolutely mean no disrespect in any way.
I just want to send my Nana a message from beyond the grave.
I love you.

I've been playing this song the last few days.
Even got it stuck in Lucas' head ヽ(^。^)ノ
So for your listening pleasure, I bring you, The Doobie Brothers

I hope everyone has a good Remembrance Day tomorrow.
I will be pondering life's big questions.
Take it easy.

The Obliteration Room

Hey all,
How are you doing on this wonderful hump day?
I must say that I've been feeling really great lately. Despite life's trials and tribulations.
Just because I'm mentally good, doesn't mean everything's been easy peasy. Life isn't easy. (Should it be?)
But I'm dealing better. I'm feeling secure in myself. And, my god, it feels great!
Even the dwindling sunlight and the creeping chill of autumn isn't getting me down.
But seasons are merely a temporal distraction anyway.
Because it keeps getting warmer and brighter inside my mind.

Today I would like to share a Yayoi Kusama art installation with you.
The Obliteration Room

The interior of a house was constructed in the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art, everything painted white.
Children visiting the gallery were then given colourful dot stickers to put where they please.

Over the course of two weeks this is what happened...

I think it's quite a breath taking piece. I love the contrast of the blank sterility and the colourful chaos.
Perfect inspiration for a manicure.

This manicure was a lot of fun. I did it a month or so ago while hanging out with my little brother.
He said I matched the colours well and gave me a thumbs up, so I'm happy.
What do you think?

I used Zoya - Purity as my base
And dotted with Sally Hansen - Lickety Split  Lime & Brisk Blue
Barry M - Dragonfruit & Satsuma and Nubar - Resort Yellow

Here's the song that's been stuck in my head all day.

Hope you enjoy the last 3 days of summer.

The Dangers of Drinking - Barry M Gradient

Hey all,
This time I have two hidden gems for you.
Barry M - Grapefruit & Plum
I have been lusting after these polishes for a long time.
Too many amazing bloggers have done incredible manicures with Barry M's Gelly polishes.
Once I realized I could get them at Ninja Polish, it was only a matter of time.

I find their bottles incredibly aesthetically pleasing
I knew I had to do a gradient with them right away.
And I just purchased my first bottle of Konad special stamping polish.
So this is what happened...

My concept for this manicure is The Dangers of Drinking
Skulls accented by a shot of tequila, salt and a lime
Inspired by a recent hangover, and the plain truth.

Do you think the theme works?
The Barry M's were a delight to work with. Super opaque and vivid.
Great for gradients. I must add to my collection :)

I added a generous layer of Northern Lights Holographic Topcoat
Which never requires any justification at all.<3

I don't know about you, but the bottles really do it for me.
The lines, the minimalism. My god. Perfection.

On the Turntable...

Today I have Nine Nine Nine - The Biggest Prize in Sports
If you look in my grade 6 year book you'll find 999 listed as one of my favourite bands.
And this album in particular was always my favourite.
I used to listen to it over and over again on my Walkman tape player.
I recorded the tape from this album. Then later I bought the cd.
Now it's on my ipod. Any format you want, I got it!
Oddly enough, this is the only album I can say that about.
I never realized how much I loved it.

Unfortunately I couldn't find any live performances of songs from this album. (dammit youtube!) So this will have to do.
Listening to this made me realize where my early love of the bass came from.
Enjoy!

The clouds have come rolling in but it's still so lovely outside. I'm going to stay in and take it easy.
Giant blister on the bottom of my foot popped yesterday :P
I've been walking funny. And unfortunately I walk a lot.
Have a great weekend and an awesome manicure!
