Let's Get Tropical

Hey all,
I need to get into a better posting groove.
I have so many awesome summer manis just waiting for their day in the sun.
But all I want to do when I get home is work on friendship bracelets.
My art is tearing me apart!!!!! And I wouldn't have it any other way. :)
I'm never bored, that's for sure.

Anyhoo... I'll try to get my ass into gear.
Starting today! Let's get tropical!

I recently picked up a few MoYou London Tropical plates. So in love!!
Looking at all the images I knew it was time for me to try stamping with multiple colours.
I don't know why I haven't gotten into that yet, but hello, this is my gateway drug!

Zoya - Purity is the base for this flora and fauna from Tropical Plate 04.
I stamped with Essie - Off The Shoulder (pink), Sally Hansen - Lickety-Split Lime (green, duh) & Lightening (yellow)
I really love how the colours bleed together. Makes me think of sun bleached Hawaiian shirts.

I'm smitten with this manicure. Fresh, bright and colourful.
And the fact that the white base made my hands look SO tanned. ^_^
I think I'll be wearing white polish well into winter ;P

I'm on my lunch break right now, and the clock is ticking... Got to get back at it!
Have a great hump day y'all!

Sensory Deprivation

Hey all,
I tried something new on the weekend.
Lucas & I spent some time in a deprivation tank.
An hour and a half to be exact, but time escapes you.
Floating on incredibly salty water inside a lightproof and soundproof tank.
Is this your idea of heaven or hell?
For me it was absolute joy.
So relaxing.
The water is silky amazing and it doesn't make you pruney!!
It's like a wonderful bath in nothingness.
Not half as claustrophobic as it sounds.
I tend to be an easily over stimulated type.
I don't like loud talkers... TV's turned up to high give me headaches...
This was such a wonderful respite.
If you're into consciousness expansion, I definitely recommend checking out a place like Floathouse.

What with all this water talk,
I thought now would be the perfect time to show you this watermarble.

I used Zoya - Sailor (which I bought with my Nail Polish Canada reward points! Booya!)
Sally Hansen - Water Color & Essie - Blanc

Best watermarble yet! I really liked all ten lf my fingers this time too.
Only one got a little dinged! No disappointments. All win here.
Practising is paying off.

Give me two more tries at this and I swear I'll do a post with all the tips and tricks I've learned.
It really is the little things with watermarbles that make a huge difference.
That and patience, ahhhhh!! ~_~

So would you ever try floating in a deprivation tank?
You have nothing to fear but fear itself. :)

Have a great night!

Father's Day

Hey all,
Three weeks later and I'm finally getting to my Father's Day mani.
Featuring...
Model City Polish - Anti-Virus

Anti-Virus is a bright lime green jelly full of two sizes of holographic hex glitter.
I paired it with Zoya - Raven for a look that screams my Dad.
Green and black are his favs.

I used varying sizes of straight NailVinyls for the stripes.
The stripes are a nod to when I was a little girl making friendship bracelets.
Dad would always ask for a striped green/black one and would wear them till they fell off.

Dad was quite impressed with the twinkle and shine of the holographic glitter.
He let out a few "holy crap"s while we were out in the sunshine.
And I got a few random complements from strangers too! Way to go MCP!

Yet again the weekend has brought with it rain clouds. *Curses and swears*
But whatever, Lucas and I are going out to celebrate his birthday tonight, so screw the weather.
We'll make our own sunshine.
Hope you all have a great weekend!

Afternoon Tea

 Hey all,
A few weeks ago Dagadelic and I planned an afternoon tea date.
It's one of our rituals. At least twice a year we get our tiered treats on.
Nothing like good tea, good company and scones with clotted cream and jam (my favourite part)
Usually I'm at a loss as to how to do my nails. But not this time.
Because Bitch, I got a plate for that!

Say hello to Messy Mansion plate MM10!
It may be coffee themed, but it had me at tiny tea pots and steaming cups.
 My tea freak heart rejoices!

I started with a base of Sally Hansen - Soy Latte (like hello of course it has to be in my tea mani)
Then I used Zoya - Odette for the gradient. ...I didn't have any other polishes with drink names (._.)
I really like how it turned out. Like tea you've poured milk into but haven't stirred yet.

I stamped with good old Konad - White for contrast.
On my thumb you can see the french press in all it's glory.
Or is that supposed to be a coffee grinder? I'm not sure. :\

So stinkin cute.
If I was a waitress at a diner, I would wear this everyday.

We tried out a new tea place this time.
Instead of our earthy Asian infused favourite we decided on a girly-er experience.
Set in a tiny converted Victorian house downtown, it was the epitome of dainty fun.
Everything was pink, many chandeliers and the servers wore frilly floral smocks.
It was a trip man.

Cute little timer to let you know when your tea was perfect.
Little bird strainers and plates. Huge tea pots with TEA emblazoned on them (very Alice in Wonderland)
They set us up in front of a bay window, like holy crap, it was so perfect!
And the food! Best tiny cucumber sandwich I have EVER had.

Now that I've made you hungry, you should find a place near you that does afternoon tea.
You won't be disappointed, there's a little something for everyone.

Hope you have a great Friday!

A Broken Beam Of Light

Hey all,
Saturday is my best friend's birthday.
Well... I don't really like the phrase best friend.
Especially not for him, he transcends cliches.
The best way to put it is, I consider him to be a soul mate.
Our relationship is just as complex and intense as any "romantic" relationship.
We've experienced moments of complete unity.
But we've also hurt each other on purpose.
We've "broken up" multiple times.
Since we were 15 years old, we've loved, loathed and laughed at each other.
And I feel so lucky.
To find this other weirdo so like and unlike me at the same time.
This hilarious bird boy, all knees and elbows, bending over backwards to make me laugh.
And boy does he make me laugh.
The laughter inspires. He's my muse. My own Greek Godess.
He makes me want to be as weird as I actually am.
To exploit the *dirt* of life.

So I thought today I would share with you someone
who has inspired so much of who I am, and who I will become.
This is Shade.
He's an actor, model, photographer and muse to many.
That may sound pretentious, but he's not.
He's the most genuine person you will ever meet.
Here's a 3 min documentary some film students did on him recently.
They did a great job. I just watch it and smile.

And here's an ad he just did for Anxiety BC.
He made Cool Guy #3 shine! I think... (Watch the eyes, classic)

I hope you enjoyed those little tidbits.
We'll be having a sleepover on Saturday, which I always love.
His house is like the Tickle Trunk or Pee-Wee's Playhouse.
I feel like I can let go of the outside world and exist in our own reality full of tea and intensity.
I have a few surprises up my sleeve. I get to plan the whole day!
But shh! Because it's all secret. :)
(Love you dude, see you on Saturday!)

On to today's manicure...

A half moon with Model City Polish - Nemesis and Zoya - Bridgette

Nemesis is described as "green grey metallic blend with holographic pigment and red flecks"
It's such an interesting, hard to describe colour. Not bronze, not khaki, somewhere in between?
The best term would be - unique. Just try nailing it down, I dare you!

The men in my life were not impressed with this colour combo. I blame Bridgette.
What do you think? Nemesis totally steals the show but... it's not a bad combo, is it?
Bah, I don't even care! What's done is done! And just look at that holo twinkle. ^_^ LOVE!

Alright folks, that's all today.
I have last minute birthday things to attend to.
More damn ends to weave into Shade's technicolor wonder cape.
And, you know, sacrificing animals to the weather gods so it's beautiful on the weekend.
Have a good one!

Double your Dose

Hey all!
Happy Sunday!
As soon as I'm done this post I'm going to cook myself up a hot dog and enjoy a noon hockey game.
Sounds pretty luxurious to me ;)
And I'm very happy to say I'm almost done my crochet project!
I've been really lazy with it this last week because I know our time together will be over soon.
Another baby to set free into the universe. Damn post-partum.

Today I've got two manicures featuring polish I scored at  AuttyW's blog sale.
:D (thanks girl!)
First up I have a gradient with Zoya - Neve, a beautiful sapphire metallic.
I can't believe I didn't pick this up when it was first released, this colour is right up my alley!

I paired it with Zoya - Richelle, a bronze leaning gold with holographic particles.
And that was that! Give me a simple metallic gradient and I'm satisfied.

Keep it simple has always been one of my mottos ;)
All you really need is bold simplicity.
_ _ _

When the China Glaze textures first came out I thought they were the worst.
But It's been a year and my opinion of them has mellowed. Now I'm intrigued.
Autty's sale was the perfect chance to try one out. So I grabbed Bump & Grind, a bright dark pink.

This is three coats, it's a bit on the sheer side. But the texture spreads like a dream.
I love how matte and stucco-y it is. It's a nice contrast to my usual Pixie Dusts.

With Color Club - Kismet & Cosmic Fate using MoYou Fairytale Plate 04
I stamped some very cute little stars. I would have loved this mani as a little girl. <3

I'm glad I decided to give China Glaze textures a try.
I was pleasantly surprised.
Any polishes you initially hated, but then grew to love?

Uh oh, got to go, game's on!
Have a good one!

Neely by the Sea

Hey all,
 Happy Humpday.
Tonight I have one of my favourite polishes
Zoya - Neely
The cremes of last years Lovely collection are still tops with me. Big time.

Stamped with AEngland - Excalibur Renaissance
Using MoYou London Sailor Plate 05
Belugas on my accent and beachy awesomness on the rest.

I love this so much! The little starfish and shells are too cute.
The belugas are kind of bizarre. They look like messed up budgies to me.
Still cute though, so whatev.

Which old collections are still setting your heart on fire?

Have a great night!
I'm off to do some crochet and celebrate Montréal's win over Boston. ^_^

branding all the young girls with triple sixes

Hey all,
Tonight I have another polish combo I couldn't get out of my head.
It kept nagging at me. Like getting a song stuck in your head.
So let's get it out of my system.

Zoya - Rue topped with Scofflaw - Happy Little Tree
Mattified with Essie - Matte About You

Initially I wasn't a fan of Happy Little Tree. I'm not a huge glitter topper person.
But the more swatches I saw, the more it grew on me.
The pale yellow, grey, gunmetal, aqua and pale green glitter combo feels so vintage to me.
Like the colours cars from the 50's & 60's. Chrome with pale yellow? I love that shit.

And for some reason I had to put matte topcoat on right away. Which is unusual for me.
But this combination screamed matte or nothing!

Rue is such a fantastic neutral pink. Understated and classic.
What do you think of this combo?

And now for something completely different.
This is the first time I've done anything like this.
But it has been percolating for many years.
Last night I recorded my alter ego lip-synching to a song.
Drag kinging it up.
When Lucas asked to see, I was absolutely terrified.
To have such a strong reaction, to do something I've wanted to do for so long, is pretty screwed up.
There's something about drawing on eyebrows and a moustache that makes me feel like I' m totally naked.
So I'm going to make myself even more uncomfortable and share this with all of you.
I'd like you to meet Lux Vortex.
Where the angry punk and the absurdist artist in me combine.

)

Ok, well I'm going to hyperventilate a bit and wonder why did I post that?!
The Sagittarius loves playing the clown and does it quite well,
but the Scorpio unnerves itself with over thinking.
All that matters is that some of you think this is even remotely funny.
Oh gosh... why did I do this...

Zoya - Dot

Hey all,
Hope you had a good Valentine's Day.
Lucas and I went out to our favourite local restaurant.
Nothing fancy, but we did have dessert. Berry Crumble with ice cream.
And I love me some crumble, so best night ever!

Just a few days before Valentine's I received my Ipsy Glam Bag.
Inside was a Zoya, and to my surprise, it hasn't even been released yet.
This is Dot from the upcoming Awaken Spring 2014 collection.
As soon as I saw it I had to try it out. Polish from the future! O.O

Zoya describes this as a "pink petal cream", and it is the perfect spring pink.
As usual with their creams, the formula was great. Opaque at two coats.

I used Konad - White and stamped with Bundle Monster Plate 317
A day after painting I received an order from Painted Sabotage.
I immediately covered my accent with Happy Hearts and Hooves Day
But I didn't take any photos, it deserves to be more than an accent.

As for Dot, I really like this shade of pink,
I can see using it in lots of nail art designs.
What do you think?
How was your Valentine's Day?

Don't be a Jackass

Hey all,
I feel like I've been super busy this week.
Or at least, I have all these different little things to do.
And most of these little things require creativity.
And being creative demands so much energy and time.
I get overwhelmed sometimes and just sit and do absolutely nothing.
But today I'm going to try hard to be productive.

Here's what I wore all week.
A match made in heaven.

Zoya - Bridgitte topped with two coats of Indigo Bananas - A Star to Sail By
Stamped with Konad - Black using MoYou Suki Plate 09

Drop dead fricken gorgeous right?
As you can see A Star to Sail by is much more than a white gold flake polish.
There are pink flakes, microshimmers and real silver metal flake.
A perfect match to Brigitte's dusty mauve.

The day after I painted this I had a little accident with a 300lb recycling bin full of paper.
When I tried to move it, it toppled on me, pinning my leg and hand to the cement floor.
Thankfully I managed to get myself free with only some bruises and scrapes.

This picture is what I call "Recycling Bin - 1 Manicure - 0"

Here's a little something that makes me feel better about hurting myself.
At least I didn't do it on purpose...

I hope you have a great accident free weekend!

Indigo Bananas - 2% Butterscotch Ripple

Hey all,
I have something magical for you today!
A polish I can best describe as a brain fuck.
It's beauty is incomprehensible.

Indigo Bananas - 2% Butterscotch Ripple

2% Butterscotch Ripple is a plum base full of green/gold/copper shifting glitter.
This may be the most interesting polish out there right now.
It's so complex, so shifty and intriguing. And totally beguiling.

The more I stare at it, trying to comprehend it's ways, the more unbelievable it looks.
This polish must be crafted by the gods!
Surely this is the golden fleece !

I used Zoya - Odette for the accent.
I think they look  great together.
I recently picked up a few of the new Zoya Naturel Collection.
The dusty pink hues really got to me. Understated and feminine.

I don't want to do anything tonight except stare at my nails (≧∇≦)
If you don't have Indigo Bananas in your life, you need them!!

 I think Kit-Kat has a cold, she's been sneezing since yesterday :(
In fact, this morning she jumped on the bed and sneezed right in Lucas' face.
Nice wake up call!

If you like what you see, check out the January Jamboree Giveaway!
2% is one of the prizes up for grabs!
It ends tomorrow night. Time is running out!

Have a great night and an awesome manicure!

T.N.T. I'm Dynamite

Hey all,
Hope you had an awesome Christmas.
Mine has been both delicious and exhausting.
I feel like I haven't stopped moving for two weeks.
At least I have managed to be minimally creative.
I'm working on a little something-something you'll find out all about in January.
So get excited.

Until then,  Here's my Christmas Day Manicure.
A Simply Smitten Splatter

For months I knew I had to use Smitten Polish - Enchanted Forest & Zelda's Fall-y
Holographic holiday perfection, like tinsel and ornaments twinkling by the fire.
I hadn't settled on the splatter until the night I painted.
My heart said I had to, especially since I've never used this technique with holos before.

Zoya - Jacqueline made the perfect eggnog background.
In fact this polish is the perfect background for anything, I love it so!

--

I Love Nail Polish Gradient

Absolute Zero (deep indigo) & Pt78 (silver)
Looks much more subtle in the photos. Beautiful polishes and so amazing to work with.

--

Darling Diva - T.N.T.

I was unable to properly capture this one :(
Deep brown jelly with gold/green/orange shifting shimmer.
Kind of meh in the bottle, but a whole other story on the nail!(^v^)
And how could you not love a polish inspired by AC/DC?
Check out the video if you want to see some amazing pants and... no shirts allowed.

Have a great weekend! I'm getting my lounge on.

You Know What Day It Is

 Hey All,
Happy Halloween! What are you doing tonight?
I'm at home blogging ( ゚ Д゚)
I used to love Halloween as a child, but like a lot of things, I no longer care.
I will concede to themed manis though. I haven't turned into that much of a witch.
And to make it more of a treat, it's a double dose.

But there's something I totally forgot to mention! (;一_一)
(and no, not my passionate love of emoticons)
I started a facebook page for the blog.
https://www.facebook.com/injeebjeebwetrust
Come on down and give me a like, if you like.

First up, I wanted to try out another textured gradient.

Doing a gradient with textured polish makes it incredibly textured. Like stucco.
I used Konad Black and really had to jam it in there, but it held beautifully!

Zoya - Dahlia & Beatrix come together in the perfect Halloween combo.
What do you think? Little bro said  he loved them , yay! :)

Next up, a wonderful Halloween themed polish.
Glitter Guilty - Bag Snatcher

Bag Snatcher is a white creme loaded with yellow, black & orange shards and orange micro glitter.
Loving it! Ok, so I'll only wear this about once a year, but come on! It's cute.

I stamped with OPI - Uh Oh Roll Down the Window, the perfect ghoulish sludge green.
Lucas picked out the skulls from the Viva Mexico plate. I love this mani.
I'll be wearing it for twice as long as usual. :)

And to make your night that much better, here's something very dear to my heart.
One of the best theme songs ever.

I LOVED Tales from the Crypt as a child.
So much fun. I'll have to watch a few tonight.
I suggest you do to. :)
Have a Happy Halloween!
