Model City Polish - Electric Lemonade

Hey all,
All these fall collections coming out now are bumming me out.
I mean they're absolutely beautiful, but we still have a month of glorious summer left!
I may have graduated 10 years ago but I still can't shake my complete dread of fall.
And I don't know why, I actually like fall a lot!
But I also really really like wearing flip flops and not even thinking about jackets.
I wear flip flops to work everyday, even though I'm not allowed to wear them while I work.
So I bring a pair of socks and change into real shoes. I'm like Mr. Rogers, I even have a work cardigan.
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Wont you be my neighbor?

Let's keep these hazy day vibes going with an amazing polish from this summer.
Model City Polish - Electric Lemonade

Electric Lemonade is a bright blue full of pink and blue flecks.
It's so incredibly vibrant it blows my mind! And the flecks give it such depth and intrigue.
This polish just sucks me right in, gorgeous doesn't even begin to describe.

Electric Lemonade is such a perfect name and inspired my accent nail.
I've been waiting for the right time to bust out Nail Vinyls Lightening Bolts. Finally! (/◕ヮ◕)/
I used Model City Polish - Corn Maze and don't they make the most awesome couple?

I totally felt like a superhero wearing this.
All I need is a skin tight suit and I'm good to go (no, just no)

I hope you're all having a good week.
I've been on a friendship bracelet binge and it feels so good.
I may have bought over $40 worth of floss ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Oops.
Go big or go home.

Model City Polish Gradient

Hey all,
One more post before I go go...
Tonight's A#1 most important thing - do my nails.
(And I better do a damn good job of it if it's going to last a week.)
Then and only then will I allow myself to pack.
Priorities! (._.)

Today's manicure is brought to you by my ever growing Model City Polish stash and the letter L.
I told Lucas I was doing a gradient and made him pick from all my MCP holos. :)
What a hard, painful job huh? Demanding girlfriend from hell, that's me!

artificial light
He decided on Cold Snap (blue) & October Sunset (purple)
But let's not give him too much credit, you can't go wrong with any of those holos!

artificial light
I stamped with Konad - White using Pueen Buffet Plate 59 for a little floral fun.
Super cute and simple. I seriously love the Buffet Collection.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's a great deal and so versatile!
If you haven't already, pick this shit up!

natural light
Oooohh... Ahhh... Holo....
Alright, so I'm having a hard time coming up with content, what do you want from me?
You try and type up something coherent with all that holo goodness in your face!
I dare you!! It's like the sparkles are infecting my mind man!!

natural light
Well I wont be posting again for over a week.
But don't cry, it's going to be ok. I'll be back (Terminator style)
Take care of yourself and have a good time without me!
Catch you on the flip!

KBShimmer - I Got A Crush On Blue

Hey all,
It's been dang hot on the West Coast.
I got to my lake on the weekend and it was perfectly perfect in every way.
There were dragonflies and butterflies everywhere.
A giant dragonfly with a 4 inch wingspan landed on Lucas while he lounged.
It was very cool. And makes me wonder... just how big can those guys get? (O.o)
As long as they're flying and don't land on me, I love them.
Then there was the water... don't get me started.
I think the purpose of life may be to swim in lakes and lay in the sun.
Or at least, that's the purpose of my life.

And again, with all this water talk, here's a water themed mani featuring...
KBShimmer - I Got A Crush On Blue

I Got A Crush On Blue is a royal blue jelly full of multiple shapes and sizes of holographic glitter.
I've read so many good things about this polish, I just had to pick it up.
And I can say for a fact, it has exceeded all my expectations!

For that killer depth I used three coats. The formula was fricken fantastic.
No fishing required, all the glitter laid nicely, super user friendly!
And just look at that glitter shine!! Ommm nom nommmm...

I stamped two accent fingers with Messy Mansion plate MM09 using Konad - White
The wave image is based off of The Great Wave off Kanagawa,
which has always had a special place in my heart, and works so perfectly with this polish.

I Got A Crush On Blue? Yes I most certainly do!
The holographic glitter... The jelly... I can't get enough of it!
I have officially converted to KBShimmerism. I've seen the light, hallelujah!

Any polishes you've been hearing amazing things about?
What's your number one lemming right now?
Happy humpday!

Sensory Deprivation

Hey all,
I tried something new on the weekend.
Lucas & I spent some time in a deprivation tank.
An hour and a half to be exact, but time escapes you.
Floating on incredibly salty water inside a lightproof and soundproof tank.
Is this your idea of heaven or hell?
For me it was absolute joy.
So relaxing.
The water is silky amazing and it doesn't make you pruney!!
It's like a wonderful bath in nothingness.
Not half as claustrophobic as it sounds.
I tend to be an easily over stimulated type.
I don't like loud talkers... TV's turned up to high give me headaches...
This was such a wonderful respite.
If you're into consciousness expansion, I definitely recommend checking out a place like Floathouse.

What with all this water talk,
I thought now would be the perfect time to show you this watermarble.

I used Zoya - Sailor (which I bought with my Nail Polish Canada reward points! Booya!)
Sally Hansen - Water Color & Essie - Blanc

Best watermarble yet! I really liked all ten lf my fingers this time too.
Only one got a little dinged! No disappointments. All win here.
Practising is paying off.

Give me two more tries at this and I swear I'll do a post with all the tips and tricks I've learned.
It really is the little things with watermarbles that make a huge difference.
That and patience, ahhhhh!! ~_~

So would you ever try floating in a deprivation tank?
You have nothing to fear but fear itself. :)

Have a great night!

Models Own - Duck

Hey all,
A few weeks ago I got to hangout with this little guy.

^_^ the cutest thing ever.
And so were my nails...

 Models Own - Duck

I love the speckled egg look.
This polish is nowhere near baby cute, but it's still damn cute!
What do you think?

Sleeping baby says "Have a great Friday the 13th!"

Model City Polish - T-Virus

Hey all,
Today I've got something from one of my favourite brands.
Took me awhile to get to it, but boy am I pleased with this knockout.
Here's...
Model City Polish - T-Virus

T-Virus is a medium blue crelly full of holographic hexes, squares and micro bars.
It was too pretty to stamp over (my original plan) so studs it was!
Perfect contrast, ermagersh! ^o^

This shade of blue really is something special. It's like blue raspberry jello!
And with the holo glitter twinkling through? Devine!

I love the mix of glitter. I'm an insane square glitter freak, I don't know why.
Also, I must mention I hate bar glitter with a passion. But I LOVE the micro bars!
They're so cute. And they lay nice and flat and don't irritate me in any way.
Hurray! Another winner from Model City Polish. ^_^

If you don't have any MCP in your life, you need some!!

Have a great night!

Double your Dose

Hey all!
Happy Sunday!
As soon as I'm done this post I'm going to cook myself up a hot dog and enjoy a noon hockey game.
Sounds pretty luxurious to me ;)
And I'm very happy to say I'm almost done my crochet project!
I've been really lazy with it this last week because I know our time together will be over soon.
Another baby to set free into the universe. Damn post-partum.

Today I've got two manicures featuring polish I scored at  AuttyW's blog sale.
:D (thanks girl!)
First up I have a gradient with Zoya - Neve, a beautiful sapphire metallic.
I can't believe I didn't pick this up when it was first released, this colour is right up my alley!

I paired it with Zoya - Richelle, a bronze leaning gold with holographic particles.
And that was that! Give me a simple metallic gradient and I'm satisfied.

Keep it simple has always been one of my mottos ;)
All you really need is bold simplicity.
_ _ _

When the China Glaze textures first came out I thought they were the worst.
But It's been a year and my opinion of them has mellowed. Now I'm intrigued.
Autty's sale was the perfect chance to try one out. So I grabbed Bump & Grind, a bright dark pink.

This is three coats, it's a bit on the sheer side. But the texture spreads like a dream.
I love how matte and stucco-y it is. It's a nice contrast to my usual Pixie Dusts.

With Color Club - Kismet & Cosmic Fate using MoYou Fairytale Plate 04
I stamped some very cute little stars. I would have loved this mani as a little girl. <3

I'm glad I decided to give China Glaze textures a try.
I was pleasantly surprised.
Any polishes you initially hated, but then grew to love?

Uh oh, got to go, game's on!
Have a good one!

Indigo Bananas - Great Scott

Hey all,
Happy Saturday morning.
I was trying to get back to bed when the cat accosted me for pets.
Fur babies are the best wake up calls.
Rub me till you're ready to face the world.
So wise cat, so wise.
She's still sitting with me now, being so chill.
What a sweetie pie.

Today I have Indigo Bananas - Great Scott

Great Scott is a medium blue fleck polish
packed with gold/green shimmer and holographic micro glitter.
It is absolutely amazing in real life, beyond anything I had imagined.
Twinkling and shimmering at the same time, you have to see it to believe it.

Like all Indigo Bananas, the formula was fantastic. This is two coats.
It also happens to glow blue in the dark!
But I was a complete bone head and forgot to get photos. U_U
I'm super annoyed with myself.

Just look at that! It's like sun rippling off the ocean.
Trust me, you need this in your life!
I stamped with Konad - White using Pueen Buffet Plate 73

Aw crap, the cat just left me T_T
I guess that means it really is time to get up and embrace the day.
Have a good one!

It's Raining, it's Pouring

Hey all,
Since it's April I thought it was a good time to bust out
Pretty & Polished - April Showers
Which is quite an appropriate name around here.
(The Easter weekend was pretty damn wet and ugly.)

I've swatched this lovely thermal previously in this post.
Unfortunately the base is no longer as bright white in the warm state as it used to be.
But it's still fantastic none the less.

To create a full on holographic spring storm I used
A-England - Dancing with Nureyev & Pueen Buffet Plate 58

I wish rain was holographic. Then I would love to go out in it. Wouldn't you?
One can dream. A-England coloured dreams. *_*

Soon enough it'll be May flower time!
I can't wait to see all the tulips and rhododendron bushes come alive.
What are your favourite flowers?
Have a great night!

I Love Nail Polish - Sirene

Hey all,
Today I bring you something super super special.
Another stunning Ultra Chrome from I Love Nail Polish.
And I'm proud to say that my pictures actually do it justice!
Nothing compares to sunlight people. That's all I'm going to say.
Without further ado, I give you...
Sirene

direct artificial lighting
Sirene is a killer colour shifter, going through green, blue, violet, red.
It's quite the chameleon.

indirect artificial lighting
But in the sun is really where it... shines.

direct sun light
 O.O Can you believe it?
Because I am just speechless.

indirect sunlight
I stamped with Konad - Black using Pueen Buffet Plate 59
Just a little something something for contrast.

indirect sunlight
What do you think? Are you in love?
I Love Nail Polish is quickly becoming one of my favourite indies.
The more I try the more I want.

It's a beautiful day here but I don't really feel like doing anything :P
So lazy, I know. I'll just go on the balcony and pretend I'm outside doing stuff ;)
Have a good one!

Nicole by OPI - On What Grounds

Hey all,
Just a quickie today.
Since there's exciting news coming tomorrow...

I'd like to show off the polish I received in my March Ipsy bag.
Nicole by OPI - On What Grounds
From the new Roughles Collection

On What Grounds is a turquoise leaning robin's egg matte textured polish.
What makes it really special for me are the tiny blue and brown flecks.

The first coat felt like I was applying smoothie to my nails.
The whole matte texture with no sparkle has never quite sat right with me.
But despite that I'm really taken with this polish. It's like stucco from the 60's.
And the colour is so perfect for Spring.

Wear time was fantastic. Removal, a breeze.
If you're down with texture I highly suggest taking a look at this collection.
All four shades are extremely cute, fruity and fun.
I'm seriously dying for a smoothie just thinking about them.

Have a great night!

A Selection of Aliquid Lacquer The Silmarillion Collection and Giveaway

*polish provided for review*

Hey all,
This is the first time I've ever written that little disclaimer up there! (✿◠‿◠)
When Alison of Aliquid Lacquer contacted me about reviewing some of her latest collection I jumped at the chance.
I've come to expect intriguing combinations and flawless formulas from this brand.
The Silmarillion Collection does not disappoint.
Based off of one of Alison's favourite books : J.R.R. Tolkien's The Silmarillion.
I may not be a Tolkien person, but I love art influencing other art, especially literature.
Each polish is inspired by different scenes in the book.
My post is super long as is, so I decided not to include the passages.
If you wish to read them check out Aliquid's blog.

So as not to be repetitive,
I used one coat of Seche Vite base and top coat for each swatch.

Devouring Wave

Devouring Wave is a deep blue jelly full of multiple sized hexes and shreds.
Red, blue, silver, green, purple, there may even be more colours.
But the array doesn't end there.
The glitter also varies between metallic, holographic AND iridescent.
(@_@;)  Fantastic.

I used three thin coats for optimum oomph. The third coat really gave it depth and shine.
The formula was easy to work with. Not too thick or thin.
I had no trouble getting glitter and they dispersed themselves quite nicely.

I think the name is perfect for this one. It makes me think if glittery flotsam and jetsam in the ocean deep.
I'm a fool for blue and jellies with glitter. So this is a hit with me. I've been devoured.

Dragonspell

Dragonspell is an amber jelly with plenty of green shimmer and gold flakes.

I used three thin coats, if I had steadier hands two coats would have been fine.
The formula was very nice. Like butter, which is standard for Aliquid.
The gold flakes really pop in any type of lighting and lends a tortoiseshell look to the polish.

The addition of green shimmer makes this spell magical. It really glows in direct light.
This is such a unique polish. Mystifying is the best word I can think of.

Hidden City

Hidden City is a deep green holo with copper, bronze and gold flecks.

I used two coats for polished perfection. Great formula. Super smooth.
In low lighting the flakes come out to play, resulting in a very interesting metallic look.

But in direct light this one is a bit of a show off. Look at that holographic splendour!
Green with rainbows? Everything I've ever wanted (+_+)

Shores of Paradise

Shores of Paradise is a slightly sandy tinted base full of brown, gold and white microglitter.
And a smattering of red, aqua, blue, garnet and clear iridescent hexes make this suuuper interesting.

I used three thin coats and then couldn't stop staring.
Again, the formula totally rocked and was super easy to work with.
I'm sure this would also look amazing layered over another polish, and will try that one day.

It was love at first slight with this one. So incredibly cool!
The coloured glitters are the most awesomely offbeat mix, as I've come to expect from this brand.
Again, I've never seen anything like it.

Just based on the four polishes I have, I'm really impressed with this collection.
Each polish seems very well thought out. Very lovingly crafted.
I think it's a stand out unique mix. There's something for everyone.

Along with swatches I wanted to have some fun with the polish.
So I have two nail art looks for you.

Stamped with Konad - Black using Pueen Plate 56
I think the stars are a perfect match to Shores of Paradise. Makes me think of sand castles.

What I'm wearing at the moment is a Dragonspell / Hidden City half moon.
I watched the trailer for the new Ninja Turtles film before I painted, so that may have influenced me.
(Movie looks like shit if you ask me. I loved TMNT growing up.
Why'd you mess with the story Bay??!! (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ )
As for the nails, they're weird, for sure, but I like it. The green shimmer with the green holo.
It's earthy but also not of this world.
What do you think if this half moon combo?

Ginger Rose Lipbalm

Aliquid also makes wonderful lip balms and she was kind enough to send the new Ginger Rose scent.
I have been a Burt's Bees girl for many years now. But I swear to you that Aliquid's are even nicer.
They're less waxy and in my opinion feel lighter and creamier.
Ginger Rose is a lovely scent, exotic and mysterious. Gently floral with a little hint of zing.
Reminds me of Chinatown in the spring.
