Model City Polish - MCP Thanks You!

Hey all,
The clouds have moved in. More rain. Less energy.
I feel so drained. I guess I really worked it today.
But despite this, there's a polish I just have to show you.
Something very special.

Model City Polish - MCP Thanks You!
A bright red jelly with red and silver holographic glitter and large holographic silver circles.
This is 3 coats.

This polish was made in celebration's of Model City Polish's 1 year anniversary.
And the cool thing is, only 29 bottles were made and each are numbered! #20 boo yeah!

I LOVE the glitter in this. They are so adorable together. The fine holographic particles sparkle like magic.
The hexes make me think of watermelon seeds, or strawberry jam. And the big circles? Holy crap! Space age fantastic!
And you know my love of jelly finishes. So this polish is frickin amazing and I can't get over it.

I had to do a little something with it without taking anything away from it, so I decided on a sexy little black french.
There's something kinda jazzy about this. (just me?) I think it totally works.
It makes me think of ladybugs. And look at that holographic glitter shine! My heart leaps up...

There are still a few bottles left on Model City Polish's Etsy site.
Hurry while you can and snap it up! This beauty is too sweet to miss out on.

You know, now that I've gabbed about a beautiful polish,
and drank half a cup of Coke a cola,
I'm not feeling so tired any more!:D
I'm sure that will change in about 20 minutes :P
Have a great night and an awesome manicure!

Stamp those Grapes

Hey all,
It's a beautiful Sunday!
I just got back from a quick dim sum breakfast.
There's nothing like a bunch of fried shrimp to start your day.
Every single time I stuff myself and end up feeling so tired and lazy.
So before I settle into my dim sum coma, I have a manicure to share with you.

I wore this for a day and then my heart said "make it matte!"

I love both versions, but I think the matte makes it extra special.
It really brings out the duochrome in the purple, and is luxuriously velvety.
What do you think?

Sally Hansen - Grape Going! is so interesting. Loaded with blue shimmer it flashes between warm and cold purple.
I love how interesting it is. Great formula. Minimal streakage.
I'm so glad Dagadelic was able to grab this for me. I can't wait to stamp with it.

I stamped with A-England - Excalibur. I left it out of the bottle shot since I use it all the time.

One week until I go away on holiday.
Needless to say, it's all I can think about.
Until then I'm going to disappear into a book and some crochet.
Have a great day and an awesome manicure!

Novel Nail Polish - Star-Crossed

Hey all,
Happy Friday!
I want to show you the sweetest polish in the world.
Novel Nail Polish - Star-Crossed

A milky white base full of an amazing variety of glitters.
Stars, hexes, squares. Pastel blue, pink & purple. Silver holographic. Hot Pink.
Looking at the bottle I didn't quite know what to make of it.
But on the nail...

...it translates wonderfully! I can't get over how cute it is. It makes me think of pop tart icing and fairy tales.
Star-Crossed is inspired by Romeo & Juliet, so I guess I'm on the right track.
And let me tell you. I fell head over heels for this one.

I love everything about this polish. The formula was easy to work with.
Great opacity (I'm wearing two coats) The stars were shy, but easy enough to scoop.
The blue stars didn't like being photographed, you can almost make them out on my middle and pinky fingers.
In person they were much more noticeable.

Check out Novel Nail Polish on Etsy for more pretty pretties.
I'm so happy with this one, I want to see what their thermos are like. :)

I hope everyone has a great weekend.
Enjoy these last days of summer while you still can!
Have a great night and an awesome manicure

Citronite

Hey all,
Just a quicky today :P I'm spent.

So I arrange my polish by brand...
And I've had these two babies sitting next to each other for a while now...

It just made sense. You know?

But now when I look at it...
All I can think...

...is carrots.

piCture pOlish - citrus & kryptonite

Not that I hate carrots. Or this manicure. It just wasn't as I expected.
I hope everyone's having a great ... Tuesday -_-
A week and a half and I go on vacation.
Time is going too slowly.

Have a great night and an always awesome manicure.

Model City Polish - Hey Ho, Let's Go

Hey all,
Next up from my hidden stash...
Model City Polish - Hey Ho, Let's Go!

I have a cute little story about it actually.
When Lunar Lacquer posted this swatch of Sheena is a Punk Rocker I commented how jealous I was.
Model City Polish has some awesome polishes. I mean, come on, a Ramones Collection says it all!
But the only shipping option is to the States. :( Heart broken.
But not long after I commented, Nina, the owner of MCP, happened to reply!
She will ship to Canada! :D Just message her and she'll create a custom order. Happy dance!

Hey Ho, Let's Go! is a black jelly full of holographic hexes, squares and fine glitter.
3 coats for perfect opacity, the formula is very easy to work with. And the black jelly is sheer enough not to drown the glitter.
I LOVE this polish! It's bad ass perfection!

The holographic glitter is fantastic! It makes for such a fun space age look.
And the Ramones did love them some sci-fi. I think they would approve.
Well Joey and Dee Dee for sure. Johnny would probably hate it, but he was a jerk like that.

I wanted to take pictures of this with my Ramones shirt, but I couldn't find it. :(
I own so many different black t-shirts that often a certain one will go missing for a long period of time.
Sigh. Anyone else have that problem?

I'm so glad I was able to get my hands on this. I really really like it.
What do you think?

Here's the namesake for this wonderful polish.
Enjoy!

Have a great weekend and an awesome manicure.

Summer PixieDust Colour Blocking

Hey all,
I don't know about you, but I've really been enjoying this summer. It's been absolutely fantastic!
And like when I was in school, I never think about it's imminent departure.
I try to live each day totally embracing the season at that moment.
But now everyone's getting excited about the latest fall collections.
Deep, dark and rich colours... Velvety shimmer...
But wait. Hold up everybody.
It's still summer.

I refuse to contemplate anything fall related until September 22nd.
Until then I'm putting my beautifully manicured fingers in my ears and chanting "summer will last forever"

On that note...
I've been ignoring my Summer PixieDusts. So I decided to give them a little lovin.

Glistening summer fantastic! These colours are gorgeous together.
Bright, bold and sparkling, just like a beautiful summer day.

I think they turned out quite fabulous. Very retro, my co-worker said.

What do you think of my textured summer fun?
And are you holding on to summer or hoping for fall?

Zoya - Solange, Beatrix & Destiny
Let's Spin a Yarn...
Here's some shots of the shawl I've been working on.
I'm in love <3 I mean, I fall in love with everything I make.
But this is one's for me :) I'm keeping my baby!

Bored yet?

I hope everyone's having a good week. Tomorrow's Friday!!
Tomorrow is also my best work girlfriend's last day at work. It's kind of sad. But life is change. She needs change.
Instead of having a work friend, I'll have a friend. Five years of hanging out 5 days a week doesn't just disappear.
But that's just it. Five days a week. You get so used to it. And it makes things way more fun.
Candy, if you ever read this...I'm going to miss your bitchy presence so much.
All the lunches, phone calls, and chats with Paul made the last 5 years a blast.
I'm so glad Army of Darkness lead to our "unlikely" duo.
Bruce Campbell, tea and bitchiness forever!

Have a great night and an awesome manicure.

Smitten Polish - The Ghost of Jupiter

Hey all,
Next up I have...
Smitten Polish - The Ghost of Jupiter
I love the title. Like a book I would read on summer vacation.

The Ghost of Jupiter contains gold, silver & blue circle glitter
and fine holo shimmer suspended in a blue jelly base.
(Three coats shown - two coats Poshe topcoat)

I LOVE glitter in jelly. The depth is fantastic.
And the amount of glitter in this polish is complete insanity!
No fishing necessary. If you're a glutton for glitter, you'll love this.

This is my first circle glitter polish! :D And I totally dig these crazy circles.
Like little planets or fish scales, this polish feels both cosmic and oceanic.
A co-worker said "mermaid nails" and I agree. The jelly is a perfect deep ocean blue.

This is my first time using Smitten Polish and I'm quite impressed.
Check them out, they have quite a range of fantastic creations.
And soon to come is a beautiful holographic collection.
So excited!! I've been drooling since I first saw them. :D

Hope you are enjoying your Sunday.
A summer storm passed through. A bit of thunder and lightening.
The cat hid in the closet, all the dogs in the neighbourhood barking.
I haven't heard the sound of rain in so long.
But as quickly as it came, it's gone.
Hav a great day and an awesome manicure!

The Dangers of Drinking - Barry M Gradient

Hey all,
This time I have two hidden gems for you.
Barry M - Grapefruit & Plum
I have been lusting after these polishes for a long time.
Too many amazing bloggers have done incredible manicures with Barry M's Gelly polishes.
Once I realized I could get them at Ninja Polish, it was only a matter of time.

I find their bottles incredibly aesthetically pleasing
I knew I had to do a gradient with them right away.
And I just purchased my first bottle of Konad special stamping polish.
So this is what happened...

My concept for this manicure is The Dangers of Drinking
Skulls accented by a shot of tequila, salt and a lime
Inspired by a recent hangover, and the plain truth.

Do you think the theme works?
The Barry M's were a delight to work with. Super opaque and vivid.
Great for gradients. I must add to my collection :)

I added a generous layer of Northern Lights Holographic Topcoat
Which never requires any justification at all.<3

I don't know about you, but the bottles really do it for me.
The lines, the minimalism. My god. Perfection.

On the Turntable...

Today I have Nine Nine Nine - The Biggest Prize in Sports
If you look in my grade 6 year book you'll find 999 listed as one of my favourite bands.
And this album in particular was always my favourite.
I used to listen to it over and over again on my Walkman tape player.
I recorded the tape from this album. Then later I bought the cd.
Now it's on my ipod. Any format you want, I got it!
Oddly enough, this is the only album I can say that about.
I never realized how much I loved it.

Unfortunately I couldn't find any live performances of songs from this album. (dammit youtube!) So this will have to do.
Listening to this made me realize where my early love of the bass came from.
Enjoy!

The clouds have come rolling in but it's still so lovely outside. I'm going to stay in and take it easy.
Giant blister on the bottom of my foot popped yesterday :P
I've been walking funny. And unfortunately I walk a lot.
Have a great weekend and an awesome manicure!

The Nail Junkie - Watermelon

Hey all,
Next up in my stash of hidden wonders...
The Nail Junkie - Watermelon

Watermelon is a red-orange jelly packed with holographic shimmer.

direct artificial light
Holy crap, I never expected to fall so hard for this polish.
It looks great in the bottle, but on the nail it is something else.
It dries to a slightly textured finish.
So you know, with one coat of topcoat, this shimmer's the shit!

indirect artificial light
Two coats of Watermelon leaves just a hint of visible nail line.
But I love a little VNL. I think it's kinda sexy and adds a bit of depth.

direct artificial light
Not only was this polish amazing under bright lights, but indirect light made it positively radiate!

indirect sunlight
Watermelon is the perfect orange toned red. Not quite a coral, but very close.
Not a colour I'm usually drawn to, but from the moment I saw it I knew it was the one <3
And I received quite a few compliments from people who never usually mention my polish :)
That right there tells you how special it is.

direct sunlight
The formula was superb. Went on like butter. And the wear I experienced was very minimal.
I'm so impressed with The Nail Junkie and I highly recommend checking out her Esty store.
I loved it so much I even did a bottle shot :O

indirect sunlight
I hope everyone had a great weekend.
I had a southern themed dinner party last night!
Chilli, strawberry pretzel parfait, tropical cocktails and ...drumroll...
Jello shots in lemon rinds :D
And damned if I didn't get a picture of them :(
I hollowed out 10 goddamned lemons and I forgot to take a picture!
Well, they were fantastically cute.
Goggle "jello shot in lemons" and you'll know what I'm talking about :P

Have a great week and an awesome manicure!
