ILNP - Masquerade

Hey all,
It's a gorgeous evening and I'm sitting on my balcony dreaming of tomorrow.
Tomorrow I get to go to a lake. ^_^
As much as I love the ocean, I love lakes even more.
They're just so magical and fun.
Give me an air mattress and sunscreen and I'm good all day.
No tide. No waves. No salt water.
Just me and the dragonflies.
I'm so damn excited.

Today I have a simple stamp manicure using a very complex polish.
ILNP - Masquerade
(all pictures are taken in indirect natural light save for one)

Masquerade is the mother of all ultrachromes.
It shifts from pink, violet, red, copper and green. No lie.

This is two coats. And like all ILNP's, no undies required!
It was a dream to apply. No streaking issues at all. She's as nice as she is pretty.

indirect artificial light
I stamped with Messy Mansion plate MM14 using Konad - Black
The peacock feathers seemed to be a perfect match to this flash.

Every ultra chrome I try, I fall deeper and deeper in love with ILNP. They are so bewitching.
Black magic. White magic. I haven't decided yet.
All I know for sure is I want to paint a car in this. A badass low rider with gold rims.

Want to see another stamp mani featuring Masquerade?? (you know you do!)
Check out The Polish Hound who stamped with light blue for a super great look.
You'll die over her awesome photos (they always make me jizz in my pants a little)

On that note,
Have an awesome Friday night!
Don't party too hard.

ILNP - Undenied

Hey all,
I just finished watching a hockey game and feel like passing out ~_~
So tonight's another lazy late night manicure
(It's not really that late on the west coast, but whatever.)

ILNP - Undenied

Undenied is an "ultra chrome" (sounds so futuristicly fantastic)
that shifts from violet and red to gold.
Photos do not do it justice.

The ultra part is definitely spot on. Metallic to the extreme.
And easy to work with. Just be gentle with your brush and it does the rest.
This is two coats.

Are you an ultra chrome fan?
I'm a bit late to the party. I just could not deny their beauty any longer.

 The spring equinox is tomorrow!
I can't wait for all the flowers and cherry blossoms to come out.
Nothing's more inspiring than the rebirth of nature.
Have a great night!

the beautiful girls who are shly brave...

Hey all,
This week I'm going on a Cult Nails bender. ( ̄ー ̄)
I got pretty pretties from them ages ago that I still haven't worn!
I don't know about you, but I get really antsy with my untrieds.
It's as if I feel like I'm letting the polish down by not using it sooner.
And the longer I hold off, the more of a grudge it has.
Yes. I was one of those kids that thought my toys had feelings.
So I would try to play with everything equally.
I still do this, and not just with nail polish.
It's ridiculous the amount of empathy I have for the inanimate.

To start off the binge I give you...
Masquerade

Masquerade is a green jelly base full of duochrome pink/gold shimmer.
This was part of the Limited Edition Midnight Masquerade Collection.
It's been on at least 3 bloggers Best of 2013 lists, and it's easy to see why.

I wish I only stamped my accent finger, but oh well.
I used MoYou The Artist Plate 11 & Essie - Good As Gold

Although Masquerade is similar to Orly - Space Cadet, they're not the same.
Space Cadet has a stronger shimmer going on, whereas this is more about the base colour.
I was worried after I ordered this that it would be a dupe.
Which makes me a dope. (~_~;)
Even if they were, you can never have enough Space Cadet!

Don't forget to enter the Janurary Jambouree Giveaway!
Runs until the 20th with daily entries!
(You know you want my earrings ∩( ・ω・)∩  )

Today for your listening pleasure I give you Liz Phair.
"it's cold out there and rough" That's for sure.
It's the usual wet and windy west coast winter over here,
but my thoughts are with those of you dealing with the sub zero insanity.
Stay warm!

Have a great night and an awesome manicure.

Dec 3rd

I've got some catching up to do.
New format. New something.
Something's got to change.
But the awesomeness of my manis have not.
So here's a few, while I try to figure out what to do.

Enchanted Polish - Mean Mr. Mustard with Orly - Space Cadet accent
I was going for art deco opulence. Drool.
And that Mr.Mustard, I tell you. It gets more enchanting each time I wear it.

Cult Nails - Midnight Mist
My camera couldn't capture it quite right. ಠ_ಠ

But my phone is much truer to the colour and crazy shimmer.
I'm really digging both neutrals and shimmers like never before.

It was recently my birthday so I decided to do something out of this world.
POW!27
Staring Model City Polish - Hey Ho, Let's Go!
& the amazing MoYou artist Collection 06

And yes, totally a couple making out on my thumbs.
\(~o~)/ Awesome!

Catch you on the flip.

Stamp those Grapes

Hey all,
It's a beautiful Sunday!
I just got back from a quick dim sum breakfast.
There's nothing like a bunch of fried shrimp to start your day.
Every single time I stuff myself and end up feeling so tired and lazy.
So before I settle into my dim sum coma, I have a manicure to share with you.

I wore this for a day and then my heart said "make it matte!"

I love both versions, but I think the matte makes it extra special.
It really brings out the duochrome in the purple, and is luxuriously velvety.
What do you think?

Sally Hansen - Grape Going! is so interesting. Loaded with blue shimmer it flashes between warm and cold purple.
I love how interesting it is. Great formula. Minimal streakage.
I'm so glad Dagadelic was able to grab this for me. I can't wait to stamp with it.

I stamped with A-England - Excalibur. I left it out of the bottle shot since I use it all the time.

One week until I go away on holiday.
Needless to say, it's all I can think about.
Until then I'm going to disappear into a book and some crochet.
Have a great day and an awesome manicure!

Zig Zagging

Good morning all!
I feel like it's been forever since I've blogged. 2 posts in 2 weeks?
What the hell girl?
But it's been for a good reason. I've been busy spending time with people.
6 evenings in a row spent being social. Six! That's probably a record for me.
The last manicure I posted, I wore for six and a half days, when I usually change it up every three.
I just had no time.
(And that manicure was so damn fab!)
But I had some laughs, watched some movies, ate some awesome food and gossiped my ass off.
Today is my first day all to myself, so here I am!

Here's how I started my Canada Day long weekend.

Considering all the bouncing around I was doing, the zig zags just felt right

The black, Zoya - Raven, has just a hint of shimmer which I think really works with the holo

The base colour is Enchanted Polish - Kids.
Words can barely describe this duochrome-holographic
Shifting from teal/purple/blue/pink it's an overdose of amazing

What do you think?
Isn't that bottle shot fantastic?

I need to make up for my draught with a fresh manicure tonight.
If it's as hot as it was yesterday, that's all I'll have the energy to do anyway.
How's your weekend going? What have you been up to?

Have a great day and an awesome manicure!

7 Deadly Sins Challenge - Greed

Hey all,
It's that time again!

7 Deadly Sins Challenge! This week - Greed
Inspirations - Use your most expensive and precious polish & more is more.

On the top of my precious list is Enchanted Polish.
So I knew I had to do a Greed Gradient

I sponged the gradient over black, Zoya Raven, to make the polish pop

And since more is more, I topped it of with Northern Lights holographic topcoat to give it a little extra somethin-somethin
These polishes already contain this type of sparkle, so the topcoat is indistinguishable from the polish.
But my lord how it amps it up!

I used Enchanted Polish - Mean Mr. Mustard & Magical Mystery Tour.
They are some of the priciest in my collection, but it's their uniqueness that makes them the most precious.
That and their Beatles song names :)

Nothing more beautiful than polishes in sunset
I love these two together. When MMT is flashing purple it's like I have Hulk nails!
And when it's flashing Teal, Mr. Mustard looks much more gold.

What do you think?

I hope everyone has a good Friday tomorrow. Any weekend plans?
I'm so close to finishing my crochet project, I'm so excited!
My goal is to get it done this weekend, but I'll have to do some serious stitching.
Be sure to checkout the other awesome Greed manicures below!
Have an awesome weekend and an amazing manicure.

Enchanted Polish - Magical Mystery Tour

Hey all,
How's your week going? Got up to anything?
I finished The Girl Who Played with Fire. Like Girl with The Dragon Tattoo, it's a lot of fun. Lisbeth's secrets are slowly revealed. I think she's a great anti-hero. At turns silent and violent but also incredibly intelligent and moralistic. She's one of the most refreshing and complex female characters we've seen in a long time. Although she's on my role models list, I do have one major criticism. Why does Lisbeth need to get a boob job at the beginning of this book? It makes no sense to me. It made my B cups angry. She was so perfectly empowering and awesome until that moment. You could argue the author was trying to make her more real, giving her self esteem issues to humanize. You could argue. But I'm just a little too disappointed to argue. If the book was written by a woman maybe it would be different...

Well that was my feminist rant for the day. I do recommend the book though. The boob job is rarely mentioned and has nothing to do with anything (which annoyed me even further. You just drop that in there for no reason?...ok no more ranting)
Now I'm on to the third book! I'll be sad when I'm done. Anyone else reading anything? Any suggestions?

Alright, let's get to the nails.
Enchanted Polish - Magical Mystery Tour

Is this not absolutely fricken amazing? :D
Look at it in the bottle! :O

Magical Mystery Tour is a truly magical multichrome.
Flashing purple, teal, blue and pink with tiny little holographic particles scattered throughout

No matter what the lighting this always looked like at least two colours at once.
Even in dim lighting, I swear! Absolute perfection!

I originally planned to do some nail art. But I couldn't bring myself to cover any of this beauty up.
What do you think? Magical and Mysterious?

Muse-ic
Here's a little piece of jeebjeeb trivia for you. Magical Mystery Tour was the first ever album I bought with my own money. I think I was in grade 4. My dad was so excited. I didn't understand it at the time, but it was a big deal to him. I get it now. A rite of passage. I remember going to the record store and picking it out. Running home all excited to put it on. Then listening to it over and over again. I was obsessed with the Beatles as a child. OBSESSED. They were my number one till The Spice Girls came around :P Now I can't even listen to The Beatles anymore.
But every now and then I like to get a little nostalgic and slap on...

Have a great night and an awesome manicure.

Grey Day/Game Day Gradient

Hey all,
How's your weekend going? It's been pretty mellow for me. Visited my mum for tea yesterday. Watched a horror movie that wasn't scary :P Today I got up bright and early, hiked to the grocery and got everything for the beef stew I'm making soon. I love stew. It's so easy and satisfying.
As a reward for my efforts I started on a new manicure as soon as I got home. I kept thinking 'gradient' since I love them so much and it's been awhile since I've sponged. And since it's a game day, Vancouver Canucks colours, blue and green, were calling to me.
(Go nucks Go!)

I tried doing a sideways gradient this time since I only ever do top to bottoms.
It turned out much snazzier that I expected. What do you think?

I used China Gaze - Unpredictable and Essie - Aruba Blue
Unpredictable is an amazing green/gold/blue douchrome which just pops against the royal blue shimmer of Aruba Blue.
I fell in love with both of these colours the first time I ever set eyes on them.
I really need to utilize them more often. I feel like I've neglected them. ha!

essie-aruba-blue-china-glaze-unpredicatble

I really love the manicure. What do you think?
But I'm torn. Should I add to it?
I've looked over my stamping plates and nothing's calling to me. I don't want to ruin it by over doing it.
What do you think? Any ideas?
I'm going to leave it be unless I hear a good suggestion. :)

Let's Spin a Yarn...

I finally received my shipment from WEBS Yarn! Here's Kit snuggling it.

Painted Desert. 100% wool. My favorite colour shift, green to purple <3

I bought this thinking I was almost done my pullover. But, of course, I realized the pullover had to be re-made. Argh! So I'll be waiting quite a while to get my hands working on this lovely wool. Probably in the summer. So stay tuned!

Muse-ic

No matter what I'm feeling, it always comes back to Fiona.
She has such a knack for saying exactly what I feel.
Here's an awesome live performance of Daredevil.
Check out the percussion she performs towards the very end. Her face is so full of intensity.

I can smell my stew slow cooking :) I'm getting hyped for the game and getting very hungry. Going to spend the next hour speed crocheting! I have a little something planned with Dagadelic later this week, a special outing/ inspiration.
You can expect to hear all about it Friday!
Until then I hope everyone has a great week and an awesome manicure!
