Smitten Polish - Klaatu Barada Nikto

Hey all,
I have a late night lazy manicure for you.
Featuring
Smitten Polish - Klaatu Barada Nikto

KBN is a cobalt base full of tiny holographic glitters of multiple colours.
Despite the rich darkness of the base, the glitters shine brightly.
Red, blue, green, pink, gold. A disco laser show.
I couldn't bare to do any art over top.

I wish my pictures could capture how stunning this is in real life.
It's so loaded with glitter that one coat of Seche Vite dried a bit bumpy.
I didn't mind at all, but would recommend two coats of topcoat for a super glassy smooth finish.

I really love this polish.
I don't have anything else quite like it.
Oh! And I must mention, the name, Klaatu Barara Nikto,
comes from the movie Army of Darkness, of which I'm a HUGE fan.
If you haven't seen it, check it out, one of the best horror comedies ever!

Have a great night!

You Saucy Nureyev

Hey all,
So my week off turned into a few days of being sick.
-_- Typical and so annoying.
Sleeping for 15 hours wasn't the kind of relaxation I had in mind.
And I didn't even have any cool dreams.
What a gyp.
But I'm better now.
I was able to go out with a girlfriend yesterday.
Enjoyed the sunshine with lunch and tea!
...and then got totally sconed even though we were still full.
(There is no reasoning with a scone-head)

Before I got sick I did paint a most awesome manicure.
And since it was early in the day I managed to get some sunlight pics!
See the amazing for yourself...

Smitten Polish - You Saucy Minx stamped with A-England - Dancing with Nureyev
using MoYou Fairytale Plate 06

sunlight

You Saucy Minx is a beautiful indigo jelly full of red shimmer.
Super mysterious and spectacular, it truly glows from within.
I used two coats, which leaves a bit of VNL, which I'm into.

artificial light

I wasn't sure if this combination would work, but I think it does, in a very trippy way.
So much shimmer and glow, super psychedelic.

artificial light

You really can't go wrong with these two brands in the mix.
What do you think?

Did anyone watch the Sochi opening ceremony?
I think I may skim through for the coolest parts.
And to see all the countries different outfits.
It's like the opening to a Miss America pageant, except with coats and flags.

Have a great weekend!

in the middle of a riddle

Hey All,
This mani's dedicated to those of us that still have record collections.
(using MoYou Rockstar Plate 03)

I used Smitten Polish - Cauldron of Rainbows as my base
More like Cauldron of Drool! Black holographic perfection.
And in bright light, it goes crazy!

turned up to 11!
I stamped with A England - Dancing with Nureyev and used it as my accent base.
After applying topcoat I stamped my accent with Cult Nails - Fetish
I just had to see if the waxy finish would translate in stamp.
And it turned out better than expected!
What do you think?

Lucas didn't understand why I kept this blurry shot.
But I think it really brings out the linear rainbow. <3
This manicure makes my vinyl loving self so happy.

And like a broken record...
I must remind you about the January Jamboree Giveaway!
Check it out!

Here's a brand new treat if you're interested.
Fresh off the musical... presses...(._.)

This song was originally from the 40's.
So dreamy and romantic.
You can bet I'll be playing it non stop.

Have a great day and an awesome manicure!

creepy and sullen and running out of room

It's not even winter yet and mother nature has said "It's on!"
Time to stay in, crank the heat, and drink a bunch of warm beverages.

Models Own - Apple Pie
(a bluer leaning cousin to Zoya - Neely)
stamped using A-England - Tristam & MoYou Suki 06
It's a scented polish, unfortunately two coats of Seche obliterated any of that.
But who cares, that colour is just darling.

Smitten Polish - Cocoa and Cardis accented with Sally Hansen - Soy Latte & triangle studs
I obviously had beverages on the brain.
I did this one quite awhile ago. Lost 3 studs in the first 24 hours.  (._.)

Wing Dust - Grey Sky Morning
I put this on the morning after my birthday party. It was exactly what I was feeling that day.
Both this polish and Apple Pie were some of my birthday gifts from Dagadelic (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
She always picks an amazing assortment. Thanks girlfriend!
I left this polish on for longer than usual. It was so twinkly and mellow.

Zelda goes Gothic

Hey all,
Today I'm counting down the hours until noon.
I have to do 5 hours of overtime on a ridiculous project with a ridiculous due date.
I just pray the machine will co-operate. I'm not in the mood to dance with it.

Other than that, I'm doing quite well.
In fact I have something I'm really excited to tell you about...
I started learning German! ヽ(^。^)ノ
That may not be exciting to you, but for a Sagittarius, nothing is more thrilling than expanding your mind,
I downloaded an app from Duolingo, which can teach 6 different languages.
And you know what? It's actually fun and engaging! Not like language classes.
I took Spanish for 3 years in highschool and all I can say is it was not conducive to learning.
I have learned more in one week on Duolingo than I would in a month of Spanish class.
I know the verbs to be, eat, read, drink and have. All in a little over a week!
And I actually race home eager to practice every day.
I highly, HIGHLY, recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning a new language or brushing up their skills.
www.Duolingo.com The app is fantastic, but the website offers a more in depth study.
And did I mention it's completely free? Seriously. Try this. You have nothing to lose.

So now I'm learning German, crocheting a shawl, just started a new book, and have my nails to paint.
And those are just the hobbies on the hot plate at the moment.(´ー`)
One day I'll be the happiest hermit.

On to the nails!
I recently found out my great great Grandmother on my Mother's side was named Zelda.
So of course I had to put on Smitten Polish - Zelda's Fall-y

What a stunning holographic red. This was a limited edition polish, only available for one day.
You know me and hard to catch prey. I waited patiently and pounced.
It had to be mine!

I decided to dress Zelda up with MoYou Artist Collection - 11
The more I use MoYou's plates, the more I love them, the more I use them.
Lucas says to me "another stamping mani?" Hell yeah!(^v^)
Just look at that beautiful detail!!

And the sparkle! Om nom nom nom!!!! I'm smitten with Smitten. Always amazing.
If you don't have them in your life, you need them in your life.
Smitten Polish Go there right now. Run!

You know who my favourite Zelda is?
(I never played the video game, so not that one)
But...

Zelda Rubenstein!

HUGE Poltergeist fan right here. Oh.. My.. God..
And I always thought she was the best part of Sixteen Candles.
(That movie pissed me off. Pretty in Pink however...)
Zelda, you amazing little woman, this one's for you!

Have a great day and an awesome mannicure!

Smitten Polish - I Never Drink...Wine.

Hey all,
It's a beautiful day in the neighbourhood.
The sun is shining. The birds are chirping.
And I'm off to Dim Sum with the in-laws.
Sweeeeeet.
Dim Sum is totally worth it though.
If you're a shrimp fiend like me.

So I have another incredibly opulent manicure for you.
Smitten Polish - I Never Drink... Wine.

I Never Drink... Wine is an amazing holographic burgundy concoction of splendour.
Completely and utterly deluxe in every way. Don't you think?

I paired it with Zoya - Richelle and some striping tape for a simple art deco inspired look.
Also inspired by Nailasaurus  and all her amazing tape jobs.

Can I just say ommm nomm nom nom.... drool drool drool!! I love this polish so much.
I felt so grown up and sophisticated wearing this.
Whenever I glimpsed my hands it was like looking at a stranger.

I can totally see many amazing Christmas manicures with I Never Drink Wine.
In fact, it's true, I never do drink wine. (except at my work Christmas parties X_X)

I totally forgot to mention ages ago that I finished my co-workers baby blanket!
I'd love to post some photos, but she reads this thing sometimes.
So once the shower takes place I'll do the big reveal.
I'm very proud of it so I can't wait!

I hope you have a great Sunday!
Here's to greasy morning foods, be it shrimp or bacon.
Omm nom, nom nom nom.

Vancouver Canucks Inspired

Hey all,
What a full half week I've had. No time to blog, but that's a good problem.
It's more important to live life than to talk about it.
Canadian Thanksgiving.
I made two stuffed chicken dinners. Had a sleepover at a friends house.
Bought a new cell phone and obsessed over it all yesterday.
I cut a ton of my hair off. Man was it long. But even so, it's still long.
I did some sale shopping downtown and scored some sweaters.
And I watched a terrible hockey game.We scored on ourself! Wtf!?
Prior to that gaff we had been kicking ass. Three wins in a row. :(
So to celebrate the fact that I'm not a fair weather fan...

My Vancouver Canucks Manicure

Inspired by our team colours and the Johnny Canuck shoulder patch.

It turned out exactly as I had imagined. Simple yet bold (and beautiful!).
Vancouver, where the land meets the sea. If only it could be V for Victory.

I used both of my Smitten Polish holographics for this fantastic gradient.
Out of the Blue & Enchanted Forest.
I used Zoya - Purity as my accent finger base, the rest, Enchanted Forest.
Then sponged on the gradient and quickly removed the striping tape.

I love love love it!! :D What do you think? Canucks enough for you?
It didn't turn out to be good luck, but whatever. It looked great.
As far as I'm concerned, the team let my mani down! Not vice versa.

I also wanted to show you what I wore to my first tea date of the season.
My bitches and I hadn't been for tea all summer long, so it was a great way to ring in fall.
I went with something really simple. I was feeling neutral.

Zoya - Jacqueline with Sally Hansen - Soy Latte accent
Unfortunately I didn't take the pic until a few days after painting. Oh well.
It totally makes me think of Nutella. It went perfectly with my scones ;)

I've got exciting giveaway news!!
Check out her blog for a chance to win two Indigobananas polishes.
I've been drooling all morning. Indigobananas are fantastic.
If I don't win... I'll definitely be placing an order ;)

Have a great day and an awesome manicure!

Smitten Polish - Robin's Egg

Hey all,
How are you doing?
Tonight I'm having a yummy dinner party to celebrate the first hockey game of the season!
Meat pie, mashed potatoes and men on ice.
A perfect Canadian autumn evening.
Any of you hockey fans?
My Dad got me into it, of course. I became obsessed at 14, then my love petered out.
It's only in the last few years that I've got back into it again.
And I'm glad I did. I love it. It's like a manly, hyper physical soap opera.
So next post I'll show you my Vancouver Canucks inspired mani.
But until then I've got...

Smitten Polish - Robin's Egg

As the name suggests, the base is a perfect robin's egg blue crelly, full of copper hexes.
This polish is PERFECT! I cannot describe how much I love it.
It is sweetness and magic rolled into one. It's just so Robin's Egg!
Perfectly perfect in every way. :)

It harsh makes me crave Robin's Egg candies.
It really does look like them! And man, I love those treats.
(Is this my new thing? I only wear polish that reminds me of edibles?)

Like every Smitten I've tried, the formula was superb, only needing two coats.
And the glitter was plentiful, spreading nicely.
Smitten did a great job with this one. Simple yet beyond stunning. 5 stars!

All I can really say about this dreamy polish is...
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways...

Have a great night and an awesome manicure!

Smitten Polish - Enchanted Forest

Hey all,
I have something fantastic for you today.
Smitten Polish - Enchanted Forest

You know how I love me a good green! And I have a soft spot for holos.
So this is basically the most awesome polish ever, in my eyes.

And yes... I used my Viva Mexico plate AGAIN. I can't help it. It beckons to me in my dreams.
It whispers "use me... you'll love it..." And I do!
Those eagles, or whatever the hell they are, are awesome!

But back to the polish! This holo is beyond fantastic! I could drown in pools of it, it's so beautiful.
I feel like I have the Emerald City on my nails! The green is so vivid.

Yet again, I have fallen in love with a Smitten.  Check them out on Etsy for more jewels like this.

I've got to run. A pre-season hockey game is on, and this one's not to be missed!
I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date.
No time to say hello, goodbye.
I'm late, I'm late, I'm late.

Smitten Polish - Out of the Blue

Hey all,
Hope you're having an awesome weekend. I had a great Saturday.
Shopping, comfort food and Kate Winslet with my best gal pal. woot woot!
And I got some crochet done! What more could you want?
Today I'll be having a stay in day.
Yesterday's fog is still clouding the sky. Grey and fuzzy like dreams.
If I go out in it, it will wrap my mind in it's cottony haze.
Best to stay inside under a bright light.

Before the fog rolled in I was able to enjoy Out of the Blue
one of Smitten Polish's newest holographic babies.

I wanted to compare it to a mainstream holographic polish so I used Color Club - Beyond as an accent.
And without a doubt, Smitten's hold their own in comparison. Lucas even likes them more.
Out of the Blue is so vibrant and rich, I can't get over it.

indirect sunlight
The formula was fantastic. This is two coats and one one of Poshe topcoat.
It dried incredibly fast. I dinged a nail not long after painting, and to my amazement it was perfectly fine!

And just look at that rainbow! Pure eye candy.
This is my new favourite holographic right here!
What do you think?

I highly recommend checking out Smitten's etsy shop
The other polishes in A Unicorn Ate My Crayons Collection are amazingly fantastic!

Have a great Sunday and an awesome manicure!

Smitten Polish - The Ghost of Jupiter

Hey all,
Next up I have...
Smitten Polish - The Ghost of Jupiter
I love the title. Like a book I would read on summer vacation.

The Ghost of Jupiter contains gold, silver & blue circle glitter
and fine holo shimmer suspended in a blue jelly base.
(Three coats shown - two coats Poshe topcoat)

I LOVE glitter in jelly. The depth is fantastic.
And the amount of glitter in this polish is complete insanity!
No fishing necessary. If you're a glutton for glitter, you'll love this.

This is my first circle glitter polish! :D And I totally dig these crazy circles.
Like little planets or fish scales, this polish feels both cosmic and oceanic.
A co-worker said "mermaid nails" and I agree. The jelly is a perfect deep ocean blue.

This is my first time using Smitten Polish and I'm quite impressed.
Check them out, they have quite a range of fantastic creations.
And soon to come is a beautiful holographic collection.
So excited!! I've been drooling since I first saw them. :D

Hope you are enjoying your Sunday.
A summer storm passed through. A bit of thunder and lightening.
The cat hid in the closet, all the dogs in the neighbourhood barking.
I haven't heard the sound of rain in so long.
But as quickly as it came, it's gone.
Hav a great day and an awesome manicure!
