It's Raining, it's Pouring

Hey all,
Since it's April I thought it was a good time to bust out
Pretty & Polished - April Showers
Which is quite an appropriate name around here.
(The Easter weekend was pretty damn wet and ugly.)

I've swatched this lovely thermal previously in this post.
Unfortunately the base is no longer as bright white in the warm state as it used to be.
But it's still fantastic none the less.

To create a full on holographic spring storm I used
A-England - Dancing with Nureyev & Pueen Buffet Plate 58

I wish rain was holographic. Then I would love to go out in it. Wouldn't you?
One can dream. A-England coloured dreams. *_*

Soon enough it'll be May flower time!
I can't wait to see all the tulips and rhododendron bushes come alive.
What are your favourite flowers?
Have a great night!

Pretty & Polished - Leaf Me Breathless

Hey all,
That's right! You're getting 2-for-1 today!
I was hoping to be more productive, blogwise, this long weekend.
And since I'm at the end of it, I might as well cram in as much as I can.

I have something very interesting for you today.
Pretty & Polished - Leaf Me Breathless

Leaf Me Breathless is a yellow jelly packed with brown, red, orange, green, gold & yellow glitter.
Definitely not for everyone, this polish compelled me since I first laid eyes on it.
There's just something about the yellow jelly.

It's so weird, it works. What do you think?
I waited to wear it until after the leaves really began to change, and it was perfect.
All the colours create an autumn wind storm of wonderful. I kept looking at the trees, and then my mani.
They totally nailed the concept of this polish.

I used Zoya - Nina and some tape to create my accents.
I felt I needed some brown, but was a bit lazy :P

I used two thick coats. As usual with P & P, the formula rocked and the glitter was abundant.
What do you think? Like it? Or is it just too bizarre?

Here's the song I've been singing to myself for the last two weeks.
So good! Think I'll have to download some Doris Day movies now. :)

I'm spending the rest of my day off crocheting :D
Have a great day and an awesome manicure!

Pretty & Polished - When Hearts Kaleidoscope

Hey all,
It's an ugly grey morning.
All I can hear is the distant slush of cars rushing through rain.
The white noise of the pacific northwest.
It's distracting. Almost hypnotic.
Just like my manicure.

Today I've got a beauty from Pretty & Polished's Fall in Love Collection.
When Hearts Kaleidoscope

First off, can I just say ommmm nnnommmm nom nom mmmmmmmmm... Sorry, had to get that out of my system.
When Hearts Kaleidoscope is a beautiful magenta base full of gold hex and pink circle glitter.

I LOVE the glitter. It's such a simple yet striking mix. I think my faves are the big gold hexes.
It's really jam packed, so no fishing required.

The formula is fantastic. Perfect opacity in two coats.
And the "crelly" base gives it a wonderful squishy look. I love squish.

What are you up to today?
I'm getting a visit from my little brother and my dad.
Going to fill them up on the beef stew I made last night.
It was the perfect breakfast too. Mmmm...
So today's a stay inside beef stew and tea kind of a day.
Stay cosy!

Vacation 3-for-1

 Hey all,
I'm back from vacation!
I got some much needed r & r in the country.
Swimming in the lake was the best part. I'm a water baby, but lakes are my favourite.
We made lots of yummy food and watched fun movies. I crochted like crazy.
And I managed to finish the book I started the day we arrived!
So satisfying. The book was a pretty meh Stephen King, but overall a fun read.

I went away with Dagadelic, so you know manicures were afoot.
Deciding which polishes to bring was a bit painstaking, but I managed to narrow it down to 7.
And wouldn't you know it, used them all! So pleased.

First up
Pretty & Polished - Tomboyish & Zoya - Purity

Tomboyish is a colour changing polish. I used it once before in this manicure.
It was so warm out I was unable to capture it in it's cold state. But you can see the difference from the bottle.
I love this polish either way. In the lake, however, I had an awesome gradient going.
Just the thing to space out on while drifting away.

Next up, I brought a few of my most summery shades.
piCture pOlish - Citrus
The Nail Junkie - Watermelon
 Zoya - Reagan

I used citrus as a base and then sponged with all three
for the ultimate summer gradient...

I was so happy with this one. It's the gradient I've been dreaming of for weeks. Sunsets and popsicles.
Just a hint of Watermelon's shimmer running throughout. I wont soon forget this one.

Last but not least I have
Enchanted Polish - Congratulations & Nubar - Resort Yellow

I LOVE this yellow. I have found my perfect shade.
Not too golden. Not too neon. Juuust right.

And Congratulations? Well I think "holy crap" is the best way to describe it.

This disco fantastic manicure knocked my socks off.
Resort Yellow took 3 coats, but look at how perfect it is!

I'd have to say this one is my favourite of the three. What about you?

I'm back to work tomorrow. Trying not to think about it.
At least I know I'll have nail mail to look forward to ;)
Have a great night and an awesome manicure

When the Sea meets the Rocks

Hey all,
I hope you're having a good week.
I had a great day yesterday. Fun in the sun with family and food.
Lucas and I hosted an awesome birthday for Dagadelic.
But I'll let her tell you about it.

Here's a little something I wore earlier in the week.

I was dying to try out Pretty & Polished - Sea Spray
Such a gorgeously deep and sparkling blue <3
But I was also going to a rock show, so I had to pair it with Orly - Rock Solid

Such fantastic glistening joy! All I can do is drool.
Sad to hear Sea Spray is discontinued. I'm glad I was able to snag it.
I just love that depth! And the formula was fantastic.

Rock Solid really helped bling out my mani. I love the holographic particles.
A bit of a pain to remove, but nothing too terrible.

Well that's all for now. I need to nurse my sun burn :P
Have a great weekend and an awesome mani!

Pretty & Polished - April Showers

Hey all,
Happy Sunday morning.
I've been in a get up and go mood.
Which means cleaning the house for 20 minutes while I make my first cup of tea.
Don't ask me why, sometimes I'm so full of energy and drive right after I've woken up, it's scary.
Seems I do best when I'm running on empty, denying myself the gratification of a warm beverage.
I'll do anything for that first cup. But usually it's dishes and general tidying.
Then I can relax, surf the web, crochet. I just have to work for it.
Then I spend the rest of my day completely undisciplined. :P

Last week I received a couple beauties from Pretty & Polished.
I was so excited about April Showers, I had to put it on immediately.

April Showers is a colour changing polish. When warm the base is white. When cold, blue.
I think it's so cute white. It makes me think of blueberry yogurt or something.

It's full of shiny blue circles, matte blue hexes in 3 sizes and very small white iridescent hexes.

The best part is how each base colour hides or brings out a certain glitter.

When blue, the small white hexes really shimmer, and the matte hexes recede.
I love it like this too. Like a shimmery robin's egg.
However, I didn't get to enjoy it like this very often, due to summer weather.
But I did have a lot more fun washing my hands :)

On this hand I got two of the largest size of hex. I didn't even know they were in there!
I absolutely adore this polish. Extremely fun and cute!
What do you think?

Kit-Kat has been enjoying the warm weather.
And I hope you have too.

Time to get my crochet on!
I'm getting close to the end of a project!
I can almost taste it.
Mmmm...acrylic.

Have a great Sunday and an awesome manicure!

Pretty and Polished - Tomboyish

Hey all,
How's your week going? I went on a bizarre field trip for work yesterday. A co-worker and I drove 45 minutes out of the city to a warehouse. Our mission was to open 300 assembled boxes, add a few items to the kits, and close them back up again. Sweet. And these weren't little boxes (there was a laundry hamper in there). Thankfully my co-worker and I were a good team and totally rocked it. It was an amazing work out. He laughed when I said we would feel it tomorrow, but first thing this morning he told me how sore he was. :P I was going to post last night but I was so drained I couldn't really do anything.

I recently acquired my first Pretty and Polished ...polish. (No better way to say that, sorry) I've had my eye on them for a while but after seeing some very compelling swatches on Lunar Lacquer I took the plunge. (check her out!)
Pretty and Polished has colour changing polish! Effected by temperature! Just like a toothbrush I had as a child. Once it went from pink to purple you knew you had brushed your teeth long enough. My lord I loved that damn toothbrush. I was hoping I would love this polish even half as much. And I must say, I do!
This is Tomboyish (with a healthy dose of splatter)

Tomboyish changes from a greyed green when cold to a greyed blue when warm.
With very fine blue iridescent sparkles throughout to give it depth.
As soon as I started painting this on, the colour changed. It was bizarre! And a bit distracting :P

I can't say enough how much I love this polish. It is SO COOL!
As soon as my topcoat dried I ran to the washroom
"Lucas! Wanna play with me in the sink??" He declined.
But they're so awesome in water! It changes so fast!
And flicking water on it is super cool, you get spots!

I'm prone to chilly fingers but I still found the colour to be constantly changing.
Sometimes I had an amazing gradient going on. Sometimes random splotches, or a solid colour.
I found myself constantly checking to see what my nails were doing next.
Like a mood ring! I love mood rings so much.

I recommend Pretty and Polished's colour changing polish for little and big girls alike.
It will enchant and entertain, leaving you enamoured.

I used Sally Hansen - Black Out and a juice box straw for the splatter.
My right hand has taken quite a beating this spring.

I really love just the black splatter. What do you think?
What do you think about colour changing polish?

So today at about 9:30 in the morning I was yelled at by my co-worker. She parked her bike in the loading bay, which can barely fit skids through it as it is. So I wheeled it over to her area. This is say, one of a handful of times I have had to do this. But this time she barrels over to me and yells (because this level was not at all what I'd call conversational volume) "Why do you have to put it in the worst possible spot?"
...wow. Ok.
So I calmly tell her she can't leave her bike in the loading bay since we have multiple deliveries each day and it's in the way.
She yells "Why can't you put in outside?"
You have got to be kidding me. So I match her volume and told her "YOU put it outside!"
She stormed away bike in tow.
I was so unbelievably angry. Your bike is not my responsibility.
You put up signs in the lunch room that tell people to put their dishes in the dishwasher because no one else will. But you want me to put YOUR bike outside. Outside where the bike rack is.
And not only that, but you raise your voice with me?!
I have a reputation for being incredibly easy to deal with. Easy going and mellow. Oh yes, and respectful!
There is no reason to ever raise your voice with me. I am not a child. Are you?

This edition of Muse-ic is dedicated to my co-worker
It came on my ipod while walking home and it REALLY hit home
I hope you enjoy!

I wonder what tomorrow will bring. Regardless, I'm ready for a fight.
Have a great night and an awesome manicure!
