You ought to be who you be if you're coming with me

Early this week I got a little excited with my exacto and gouged myself right close to the nail.
Ugg. So I pretty much left my nails alone all week. Only now is it starting to heal. -_-
Thankfully I was wearing a nice glitter that held up incredibly well.

Esmaltes da Kelly - Serpens - totally makes me think Mint Chocolate Chip
I used Konad Black, Essie - Good as Gold and the Cheeky Viva Mexico plate for the Aztec snakes

Cult Nails - Fetish
I've been lemming this one since seeing LTHP's swatch.
Black with wax finish?! Yes please! This makes me hot!

------

So I've been nominated for
the Friendship Blogger Award & The Versatile Blogger award
That means sharing 7 facts about yourself and a shout out to 7 blogs you like.
Here we go.
Random Facts...

1) When I was a child  I was obsessed with The Beatles. I had every album, except for the second part of The White Album. John was my favourite, I would have killed to have his bedroom in the movie Help. I stopped listening to them for a long time now. But I promise you, if you put on any one of their songs, I will know all the lyrics.

2) I also used to be obsessed with horror movies. The first one I ever saw was Evil Dead 2 at the age of 2. It snowballed and by the time I was 10 I had pretty much seen them all. Out of all the epic horror villains my favourite is Freddy Krueger, from The Nightmare on Elm Street series. He had the greatest sense of humour and I always wished he was my friend.

3) I have been crocheting since 2009. I am completely self taught. One day I got this random urge, got a crochet book from the library, and some cheap yarn, and I learned every stitch in that book! I was amazed with myself, since whenever I had watched Nana it looked like insanely complicated magic. Now I crochet every day.

4) I have an incredibly active dream life. I remember most of my dreams and the tone of it sticks with me for a few hours after I wake. I'm finally getting to the point where, occasionally, I am aware I'm moving within a dream. That idea really excites me since all throughout my teen years the majority of my dreams were nightmares.

5)The first concert I ever went to was Oasis on January 23rd 1998 (the Be Here Now Tour) The tickets were my 11th birthday present from my Dad. I asked him about it a few days ago and he said it was a great show, he didn't expect them to be such good musicians. And I was just so excited because it was my first show AND they frisked me. An 11 year old girl. Like what, looking for my knife and booze?

6) In my city, the people that drive cars are assholes. And the people on bikes are self righteous douches. So I walk. Always have, always will. I only want to have to rely on myself. As Fiona Apple sang "I still only travel by foot and by foot it's a slow climb" Otherwise there's too much that gets in the way. If your mode of transportation is a status symbol, then give me the bare minimum.

7) I use my knowledge of astrology and human behaviour/motivation to create my own kind of psychology. And I do quite decently. I have startled a number of acquaintances by perfectly describing people I have never met. I have also amazed my Mum with insights into family friends, deadly accurate observations I had made as a child, but never talked about until years later. I am and will always be an observer.

You Know What Day It Is

 Hey All,
Happy Halloween! What are you doing tonight?
I'm at home blogging ( ゚ Д゚)
I used to love Halloween as a child, but like a lot of things, I no longer care.
I will concede to themed manis though. I haven't turned into that much of a witch.
And to make it more of a treat, it's a double dose.

But there's something I totally forgot to mention! (;一_一)
(and no, not my passionate love of emoticons)
I started a facebook page for the blog.
https://www.facebook.com/injeebjeebwetrust
Come on down and give me a like, if you like.

First up, I wanted to try out another textured gradient.

Doing a gradient with textured polish makes it incredibly textured. Like stucco.
I used Konad Black and really had to jam it in there, but it held beautifully!

Zoya - Dahlia & Beatrix come together in the perfect Halloween combo.
What do you think? Little bro said  he loved them , yay! :)

Next up, a wonderful Halloween themed polish.
Glitter Guilty - Bag Snatcher

Bag Snatcher is a white creme loaded with yellow, black & orange shards and orange micro glitter.
Loving it! Ok, so I'll only wear this about once a year, but come on! It's cute.

I stamped with OPI - Uh Oh Roll Down the Window, the perfect ghoulish sludge green.
Lucas picked out the skulls from the Viva Mexico plate. I love this mani.
I'll be wearing it for twice as long as usual. :)

And to make your night that much better, here's something very dear to my heart.
One of the best theme songs ever.

I LOVED Tales from the Crypt as a child.
So much fun. I'll have to watch a few tonight.
I suggest you do to. :)
Have a Happy Halloween!

Smitten Polish - Enchanted Forest

Hey all,
I have something fantastic for you today.
Smitten Polish - Enchanted Forest

You know how I love me a good green! And I have a soft spot for holos.
So this is basically the most awesome polish ever, in my eyes.

And yes... I used my Viva Mexico plate AGAIN. I can't help it. It beckons to me in my dreams.
It whispers "use me... you'll love it..." And I do!
Those eagles, or whatever the hell they are, are awesome!

But back to the polish! This holo is beyond fantastic! I could drown in pools of it, it's so beautiful.
I feel like I have the Emerald City on my nails! The green is so vivid.

Yet again, I have fallen in love with a Smitten.  Check them out on Etsy for more jewels like this.

I've got to run. A pre-season hockey game is on, and this one's not to be missed!
I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date.
No time to say hello, goodbye.
I'm late, I'm late, I'm late.

Can't Stop the Stamping

Hey all!
I just got back from a trip to my local deli. :)
Walking home with a bag full of meat, I feel so satisfied even though I have yet to eat any.
I love my deli. It's my own personal candy store. Sausages, pies, kabobs, tenerloins, stewing beef!
Nothing beats a good cut of meat. I love meat culture. It's in my blood.
While I was growing up my father worked in a beef plant. He was always bringing home something delicious.
And so he passed on his immense love and mastery of red meat on to me.
Burgers, meatloaf, steaks, stew, roasts. Bring it on!
Am I making you hungry? I'm fricken hungry!

Anyway, enough of my meat mutterings...
On to the mani!

I just had to use my Viva Mexico stamping plate again.

I used Sally Hansen - Soy Latte as my base. It's such a fantastic neutral. I'm surprised by how much I love it.
But then again, it looks like tea, so of course it makes me feel warm and happy.
I would be very interested to see a comparison of Soy Latte and Zoya - Flynn since they look quite similar.
From what I can tell, Soy Latte seems more creamy, whereas Flynn looks nuttier. Now I'm thirsty...

I stamped using Konad Special Polish in White, always a dream to work with.
But it needed a little extra something, so I added dots/ random splotches of Nubar - on the Radar.

I really love this manicure. The little bit of red totally made it.
It makes me think of rustic pottery and adobe houses.
What do you think?

I hope you're having a good week and enjoying the slight chill in the air.
I cannot believe September is almost over. But that's all right with me.
Only one more week till the hockey season begins!
Always got to have something to look forward to :)
Have a great night and an awesome manicure!

Zoya - Giovanna

Hey all,
Happy first day of fall!
Now I can finally wear fall collections! :D
I wanted to wait until autumn actually started, cause I'm a weirdo like that.
Of course the first polish I had to try...
Zoya - Giovanna

You might be wondering why I put I strike through the vanna.
Well my name is Gio.
Just Gio.
Not short for anything. No I'm not Italian. And why? Ask my parents.
As a child I was peeved at never finding my name on personalized pencils, keychains or other random crap.
So as soon as I got this polish I crossed out the vanna.
The universe owes me that much.
Without further ado I introduce Zoya - Giovanna

She's a beautiful emerald green metallic with teal leanings.
Did the Zoya fairies read my mind? Because this is one of my favourite colours!

direct sunlight
The formula was fantastic. Metallics err on the side of streaky, but this one looked perfect in two coats.
And the vibrancy, wow, jewel toned heaven! Rich and velvety. I will have to mattify this next time.

indirect sunlight
I chose a stamp from my Cheeky "Viva Mexico" plate and used Konad special polish in Black.
It totally gave it a scarab look, I really like it.
What do you think of Gio? What fall colours are you excited about?

I must warn, true to form, Gio stains. After removing this polish my finger tips were teal.
But what else would you expect? She leaves her mark wherever she goes ;)
She's worth it.

Here's a snuggly Kit Kat to get you in the fall mood.
Hopefully I can get her to snuggle with me later.
I've been picking her up like a baby and blowing on her tummy lately.
She HATES it. :) But she has to earn her room and board somehow.
I hope you have a fuzzy friend to cuddle up with!
Have a great day and an awesome manicure!

Metallic Accents

Hey all,
How was your week?
Since my last post I've been grooving on accent fingers.
Specifically beautiful metallics accenting stunning cremes.
I guess I've been a bit lazy art wise, but I feel the colours speak for themselves.
I painted two accent manicures this week (I told you I was grooving!) so you get a 2 for 1 :)

I wore my Beachy Stripe mani for two days before I was hankering for something royal.
I wear this combo so infrequently. In fact, it may even be my first gold/purple mani. :S

I used Nubar - Pyramid Purple as my base.
It is a perfect grape flavoured purple, though the photos come out a tinge more brown than real life.
It is deep, but still a very bright and vibrant shade.
I would recommend to anyone looking to expand their purple collection. ( ;) D)

The gradient was done with Zoya - Solange
It is the perfect crowning glory for this royal manicure.
I applied two coats of Poshe topcoat to really make it dazzle.
It makes me think of a sunset (or maybe a sunrise, but I haven't seen one of those in years :P)

After that fantastic manicure I needed to cleanse my palette with teal. (I love teal. I'm an absolute teal freak.)
And some silver! Why not? A complete opposite flavour!

I decided to use my Cheeky Viva Mexico stamping plate for Aztec-y goodness.
It NEVER disappoints. drooling...
I'm in love with this. So crisp and bold!
What do you think?

I used Topshop - Jewel in the Crown as my base.
The formula is superb! No streaks. And when it dries, the finish is like stained glass.
Oh, and the colour! Fantastically rich, this is aptly named.

I stamped with A-England - Excalibur - the old version
I'm really sad there's a new version. I think this is the perfect silver, hands down.
And stamping with it is an absolute dream! Sigh...
I'll be on the lookout for this baby. I need to stock up.

I'll be mixing it up soon. Take an accent mani break for a bit.
But when the mood strikes, I say go with it.
I don't know about you, but every time I decide to paint my nails I usually have an immediate impulse about what I should do.
And I find that if I don't listen to that voice, I end up completely unsatisfied with my nails, even if they're amazing.
Everything I do comes from the gut. I don't plan or strategize, I just feel.
And then puke it out.

I hope everyone has a fun weekend.
I have my day planned tomorrow, but there will be more on that next post :)
And another session of On The Turntable coming up, I promise!

Have a great day and an awesome manicure!

Cheeky Stamping Extravaganza

Hey all,
Last week I had the pleasure of going to Dagadelic's university graduation ceremony.
We made an event of it, dinner with friends and a concert.
In honour of her day I told her to inspire my manicure.
So she says...
"Purple, sparkle, stamping"
The first 2 are D to a T.
And stamping?
Hallelujah girlfriend!
Perfect time to use my new Cheeky Stamping Plate "Viva Mexico"

"Don't walk behind me; I may not lead
Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow.
Walk beside me and be my friend"
Albert Camus

This one's for you D!

A holographic/creme gradient with skull stamps!
I know it's kinda strange, skulls for a graduation.
But the large sugar skull reminded me of one of D's old Halloween costumes.
And I just went with it.
Graduation. Movement. Growth. Change. Mortality.
There. Now it makes sense.

Unfortunately I was being lazy and didn't snap pictures until 3 days after painting.
But it held up incredibly well, with minor filing.
I'm really happy with it. The colours are great together.
Everything pops :)

I had to do some of the smaller stamps on my thumbs.
They're too cute to pass up! I love that little mariachi!

I used Color Club - Eternal Beauty & Sally Hansen - Lively Lilac for the gradient
And stamped with A-England - Tristam

I'm really happy with my Cheeky Viva Mexico plate.
The images are etched quiet deeply and transfer amazingly.
This plate especially is like none other I've seen before.
This is right up my alley, I'm a sucker for Mexicana.
If you like stamping, check out Cheeky
Great prices, fast shipping, tons of selection.

Here's the first manicure I created using the plate.

The images are larger than Bundle Monster so you don't have to worry about being so precise.

I love the guy on my thumb. It looked absolutely amazing.
So bold and crisp.

I used Color Club - Over the Moon
& Zoya - Reagan

That's it folks.
Time for hotdogs with my little brother.
Going to load up on hotdog relish (my favourite) and sauerkraut! Om nom!
Have a great Monday and an awesome rest of the week.
