T.N.T. I'm Dynamite

Hey all,
Hope you had an awesome Christmas.
Mine has been both delicious and exhausting.
I feel like I haven't stopped moving for two weeks.
At least I have managed to be minimally creative.
I'm working on a little something-something you'll find out all about in January.
So get excited.

Until then,  Here's my Christmas Day Manicure.
A Simply Smitten Splatter

For months I knew I had to use Smitten Polish - Enchanted Forest & Zelda's Fall-y
Holographic holiday perfection, like tinsel and ornaments twinkling by the fire.
I hadn't settled on the splatter until the night I painted.
My heart said I had to, especially since I've never used this technique with holos before.

Zoya - Jacqueline made the perfect eggnog background.
In fact this polish is the perfect background for anything, I love it so!

--

I Love Nail Polish Gradient

Absolute Zero (deep indigo) & Pt78 (silver)
Looks much more subtle in the photos. Beautiful polishes and so amazing to work with.

--

Darling Diva - T.N.T.

I was unable to properly capture this one :(
Deep brown jelly with gold/green/orange shifting shimmer.
Kind of meh in the bottle, but a whole other story on the nail!(^v^)
And how could you not love a polish inspired by AC/DC?
Check out the video if you want to see some amazing pants and... no shirts allowed.

Have a great weekend! I'm getting my lounge on.

the weather outside is frightful

We have reached the darkest of days. And I yearn to hibernate.
Once it gets close to nine in the evening I'm much too out of it to do anything.
Crochet puts me to sleep. German? Forget about it.
Feels like lost time.
But I always try to look on the bright side.
In a week it will all be in reversal.
This moment is fleeting.

I finally tried out my first half moon manicure after being inspired by the mercurial magpie.
One word of caution though, don't use the plastic binder reinforcements, pain in the ass!
That's what I get for pinching work supplies (;一_一)
It all worked out so wonderfully in the end though.
Essie - Gold as Gold & OPI - Incognito in Sausalito

----

This mani I actually named - Snowfall at Twilight

Nail Pattern Boldness - Texas Tea is AMAZING!!
This is only TWO coats of a glitter sensation. There is zero pigment in the base. Mind blown.
The colours remind me of Christmas lights, and the iridescent blue flakies lend the perfect glow.
Completely and utterly in love.

I stamped with Bundle Monster & A-England Excalibur.
I think snowflakes have to be my favourite Christmasy theme.
I'm not a big Christmas person. Every year that goes by it feels less and less special.
What I wouldn't do just to be able to sleep until the new year.

Ipsy December Glam Bag

I recently signed up with Ipsy , a monthly make up subscription box.
For $15 ($10 in the US) you get 5 items picked out for you in a cute little bag.
I didn't exactly know what to expect, but I'm impressed.
Now I'm not a beauty blogger, nor do I aspire to be, so I just have a couple photos and that's it.

In my bag...

Nicka K New York - Ripe Apple
Pop Bauty - Brighten Up Your Life (ha!) Eye Shadow Trio in Naturally Bare
Be A Bombshell - The One Stick in Girl Crush
Nxy - Extra Creamy Round Lipstick in B52
Demeter - Perfume Oil Roll On in Snow

Well I love the eye shadow that will brighten up my life.
Still waiting for that, but the copper tones look great with my green eyes. Score!
The One Stick I will NEVER use on my lips, since it's frosted bright pink.
However it's a very natural blush on my fair face. Score!
The lipstick is nice and subtle, creamy understated sophistication. Hat trick!
The roll on oil in Snow wasn't my thing at first. But after wearing it for a few hours it really grew on me.
The oil is such a wonderful, mellow scent experience, I like it a lot.
In fact... I've already ordered another one of their scents. Major score!

And the Nicka K Nail Polish? (Have you ever heard of them before??)
Well here's a swatch for you.

Perfect shade for the holidays!
I did another snowy-ish stamp job with it and some Northern Lights Topcoat.

I must have tempted fate because a day after painting this it snowed.
And it doesn't do that all the time here. I'm loving it, it's so beautiful.
But soon enough it will all be slushy disgusting. Yay. (._.)
Puddle jumping my way to my Saturday overtime.
What fun.

You ought to be who you be if you're coming with me

Early this week I got a little excited with my exacto and gouged myself right close to the nail.
Ugg. So I pretty much left my nails alone all week. Only now is it starting to heal. -_-
Thankfully I was wearing a nice glitter that held up incredibly well.

Esmaltes da Kelly - Serpens - totally makes me think Mint Chocolate Chip
I used Konad Black, Essie - Good as Gold and the Cheeky Viva Mexico plate for the Aztec snakes

Cult Nails - Fetish
I've been lemming this one since seeing LTHP's swatch.
Black with wax finish?! Yes please! This makes me hot!

------

So I've been nominated for
the Friendship Blogger Award & The Versatile Blogger award
That means sharing 7 facts about yourself and a shout out to 7 blogs you like.
Here we go.
Random Facts...

1) When I was a child  I was obsessed with The Beatles. I had every album, except for the second part of The White Album. John was my favourite, I would have killed to have his bedroom in the movie Help. I stopped listening to them for a long time now. But I promise you, if you put on any one of their songs, I will know all the lyrics.

2) I also used to be obsessed with horror movies. The first one I ever saw was Evil Dead 2 at the age of 2. It snowballed and by the time I was 10 I had pretty much seen them all. Out of all the epic horror villains my favourite is Freddy Krueger, from The Nightmare on Elm Street series. He had the greatest sense of humour and I always wished he was my friend.

3) I have been crocheting since 2009. I am completely self taught. One day I got this random urge, got a crochet book from the library, and some cheap yarn, and I learned every stitch in that book! I was amazed with myself, since whenever I had watched Nana it looked like insanely complicated magic. Now I crochet every day.

4) I have an incredibly active dream life. I remember most of my dreams and the tone of it sticks with me for a few hours after I wake. I'm finally getting to the point where, occasionally, I am aware I'm moving within a dream. That idea really excites me since all throughout my teen years the majority of my dreams were nightmares.

5)The first concert I ever went to was Oasis on January 23rd 1998 (the Be Here Now Tour) The tickets were my 11th birthday present from my Dad. I asked him about it a few days ago and he said it was a great show, he didn't expect them to be such good musicians. And I was just so excited because it was my first show AND they frisked me. An 11 year old girl. Like what, looking for my knife and booze?

6) In my city, the people that drive cars are assholes. And the people on bikes are self righteous douches. So I walk. Always have, always will. I only want to have to rely on myself. As Fiona Apple sang "I still only travel by foot and by foot it's a slow climb" Otherwise there's too much that gets in the way. If your mode of transportation is a status symbol, then give me the bare minimum.

7) I use my knowledge of astrology and human behaviour/motivation to create my own kind of psychology. And I do quite decently. I have startled a number of acquaintances by perfectly describing people I have never met. I have also amazed my Mum with insights into family friends, deadly accurate observations I had made as a child, but never talked about until years later. I am and will always be an observer.

creepy and sullen and running out of room

It's not even winter yet and mother nature has said "It's on!"
Time to stay in, crank the heat, and drink a bunch of warm beverages.

Models Own - Apple Pie
(a bluer leaning cousin to Zoya - Neely)
stamped using A-England - Tristam & MoYou Suki 06
It's a scented polish, unfortunately two coats of Seche obliterated any of that.
But who cares, that colour is just darling.

Smitten Polish - Cocoa and Cardis accented with Sally Hansen - Soy Latte & triangle studs
I obviously had beverages on the brain.
I did this one quite awhile ago. Lost 3 studs in the first 24 hours.  (._.)

Wing Dust - Grey Sky Morning
I put this on the morning after my birthday party. It was exactly what I was feeling that day.
Both this polish and Apple Pie were some of my birthday gifts from Dagadelic (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
She always picks an amazing assortment. Thanks girlfriend!
I left this polish on for longer than usual. It was so twinkly and mellow.

Dec 3rd

I've got some catching up to do.
New format. New something.
Something's got to change.
But the awesomeness of my manis have not.
So here's a few, while I try to figure out what to do.

Enchanted Polish - Mean Mr. Mustard with Orly - Space Cadet accent
I was going for art deco opulence. Drool.
And that Mr.Mustard, I tell you. It gets more enchanting each time I wear it.

Cult Nails - Midnight Mist
My camera couldn't capture it quite right. ಠ_ಠ

But my phone is much truer to the colour and crazy shimmer.
I'm really digging both neutrals and shimmers like never before.

It was recently my birthday so I decided to do something out of this world.
POW!27
Staring Model City Polish - Hey Ho, Let's Go!
& the amazing MoYou artist Collection 06

And yes, totally a couple making out on my thumbs.
\(~o~)/ Awesome!

Catch you on the flip.

Jesus is Just Alright With Me

Hey all,
Yesterday was a strange day for me.
The first family gathering since my grandmother's memorial.
The conclusion of which was my acceptance of her ashes.

It's like some crappy coming of age moment.
Trying to come to terms with a 2.5 lb plastic canister that used to be so much more.
But it is better to have loved and lost.
I'm glad I'm experiencing all these thoughts and feelings.
It meant I felt. A great deal.

I wanted to do something my Nana would really like.
She was a good Christian woman, so only Jesus would do.

I was going for a Jesus meets Barbie theme. Barry M - Grapefruit was exactly the pink I needed.
The flowers remind me of sheets Nana had, which I didn't even realize till a day after painting.

All the stamping is done with Konad polish. I used MoYou Artist Plate 12 & BM224.
For that extra dose of wonder I added Northern Lights Topcoat.

I love how this manicure turned out.
I am not a practising Christian, there's definitely an element of humour to this.
But I absolutely mean no disrespect in any way.
I just want to send my Nana a message from beyond the grave.
I love you.

I've been playing this song the last few days.
Even got it stuck in Lucas' head ヽ(^。^)ノ
So for your listening pleasure, I bring you, The Doobie Brothers

I hope everyone has a good Remembrance Day tomorrow.
I will be pondering life's big questions.
Take it easy.

Space Station Obliteration

Hey all,
A few weeks ago I took my little bro to see Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2.
I loved the first one so much, best kids movie in years.
The second one was good, not as good, but visually stunning and chalk full of cute.
So as soon as I got home I had to put on...

Glitter Guilty - Cloudy With a Chance of Neon

The space ship may or may not be an ode to The FLDSMDFR. I didn't really think about it till now.
(For those of you not in the know, the Flint Lockwood Diatonic Super Mutating Dynamic Food Replicator!)

I stamped with Konad - Black and used the amazing MoYou Artist collection 06 plate.
My thumb and pinky were left bare. It turned out exactly as I hoped.
A fun bold stamp, but still allowing the base polish to shine.

I love Cloudy With a Chance of Neon so much! Bright hexes and squares in a muted grey base.
The extreme contrast is divine. Which of course totally screwed with my camera's mind.
You really do have to see it to believe it.

Here's to you Meatballs 2!
What was the last awesome kids movie you saw?

I hope everyone's having a good hump day. (=_=)
Thankfully it's a long weekend for some of us.
More time to hermit and practise my German(⌒▽⌒)
And bake those cookies I had planned for last weekend, dangit!
Now that it's getting darker and colder I've been getting really excited about food.
Like never before. All I want is cookies and stew.
And it's not even winter yet...

Have a great night and an awesome manicure!

Zelda goes Gothic

Hey all,
Today I'm counting down the hours until noon.
I have to do 5 hours of overtime on a ridiculous project with a ridiculous due date.
I just pray the machine will co-operate. I'm not in the mood to dance with it.

Other than that, I'm doing quite well.
In fact I have something I'm really excited to tell you about...
I started learning German! ヽ(^。^)ノ
That may not be exciting to you, but for a Sagittarius, nothing is more thrilling than expanding your mind,
I downloaded an app from Duolingo, which can teach 6 different languages.
And you know what? It's actually fun and engaging! Not like language classes.
I took Spanish for 3 years in highschool and all I can say is it was not conducive to learning.
I have learned more in one week on Duolingo than I would in a month of Spanish class.
I know the verbs to be, eat, read, drink and have. All in a little over a week!
And I actually race home eager to practice every day.
I highly, HIGHLY, recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning a new language or brushing up their skills.
www.Duolingo.com The app is fantastic, but the website offers a more in depth study.
And did I mention it's completely free? Seriously. Try this. You have nothing to lose.

So now I'm learning German, crocheting a shawl, just started a new book, and have my nails to paint.
And those are just the hobbies on the hot plate at the moment.(´ー`)
One day I'll be the happiest hermit.

On to the nails!
I recently found out my great great Grandmother on my Mother's side was named Zelda.
So of course I had to put on Smitten Polish - Zelda's Fall-y

What a stunning holographic red. This was a limited edition polish, only available for one day.
You know me and hard to catch prey. I waited patiently and pounced.
It had to be mine!

I decided to dress Zelda up with MoYou Artist Collection - 11
The more I use MoYou's plates, the more I love them, the more I use them.
Lucas says to me "another stamping mani?" Hell yeah!(^v^)
Just look at that beautiful detail!!

And the sparkle! Om nom nom nom!!!! I'm smitten with Smitten. Always amazing.
If you don't have them in your life, you need them in your life.
Smitten Polish Go there right now. Run!

You know who my favourite Zelda is?
(I never played the video game, so not that one)
But...

Zelda Rubenstein!

HUGE Poltergeist fan right here. Oh.. My.. God..
And I always thought she was the best part of Sixteen Candles.
(That movie pissed me off. Pretty in Pink however...)
Zelda, you amazing little woman, this one's for you!

Have a great day and an awesome mannicure!

You Know What Day It Is

 Hey All,
Happy Halloween! What are you doing tonight?
I'm at home blogging ( ゚ Д゚)
I used to love Halloween as a child, but like a lot of things, I no longer care.
I will concede to themed manis though. I haven't turned into that much of a witch.
And to make it more of a treat, it's a double dose.

But there's something I totally forgot to mention! (;一_一)
(and no, not my passionate love of emoticons)
I started a facebook page for the blog.
https://www.facebook.com/injeebjeebwetrust
Come on down and give me a like, if you like.

First up, I wanted to try out another textured gradient.

Doing a gradient with textured polish makes it incredibly textured. Like stucco.
I used Konad Black and really had to jam it in there, but it held beautifully!

Zoya - Dahlia & Beatrix come together in the perfect Halloween combo.
What do you think? Little bro said  he loved them , yay! :)

Next up, a wonderful Halloween themed polish.
Glitter Guilty - Bag Snatcher

Bag Snatcher is a white creme loaded with yellow, black & orange shards and orange micro glitter.
Loving it! Ok, so I'll only wear this about once a year, but come on! It's cute.

I stamped with OPI - Uh Oh Roll Down the Window, the perfect ghoulish sludge green.
Lucas picked out the skulls from the Viva Mexico plate. I love this mani.
I'll be wearing it for twice as long as usual. :)

And to make your night that much better, here's something very dear to my heart.
One of the best theme songs ever.

I LOVED Tales from the Crypt as a child.
So much fun. I'll have to watch a few tonight.
I suggest you do to. :)
Have a Happy Halloween!

Smitten Polish - I Never Drink...Wine.

Hey all,
It's a beautiful day in the neighbourhood.
The sun is shining. The birds are chirping.
And I'm off to Dim Sum with the in-laws.
Sweeeeeet.
Dim Sum is totally worth it though.
If you're a shrimp fiend like me.

So I have another incredibly opulent manicure for you.
Smitten Polish - I Never Drink... Wine.

I Never Drink... Wine is an amazing holographic burgundy concoction of splendour.
Completely and utterly deluxe in every way. Don't you think?

I paired it with Zoya - Richelle and some striping tape for a simple art deco inspired look.
Also inspired by Nailasaurus  and all her amazing tape jobs.

Can I just say ommm nomm nom nom.... drool drool drool!! I love this polish so much.
I felt so grown up and sophisticated wearing this.
Whenever I glimpsed my hands it was like looking at a stranger.

I can totally see many amazing Christmas manicures with I Never Drink Wine.
In fact, it's true, I never do drink wine. (except at my work Christmas parties X_X)

I totally forgot to mention ages ago that I finished my co-workers baby blanket!
I'd love to post some photos, but she reads this thing sometimes.
So once the shower takes place I'll do the big reveal.
I'm very proud of it so I can't wait!

I hope you have a great Sunday!
Here's to greasy morning foods, be it shrimp or bacon.
Omm nom, nom nom nom.

Opulence

Hey all,
How's your weekend going?
At nine o'clock last night I had a totally random urge to bake cookies.
And I'm proud to say by 10:15 I was scarfing down!
Since I didn't have any nuts or chocolate chips, I went with an easy peanut butter cookie recipe.
It was probably the fastest batch of cookies I've ever made. Highly recommended.
The hardest part is not eating them all at once, they're so crazy good fresh out of the oven.
Next time I'll be adding peanut butter chips, my ultimate weakness.

But on to nail polish.
I have another recipe that went together even more perfectly...
Zoya - Carter stamped with gold

Oh...My...Gorgeous. Just perfection.
Two coats of Carter, no base or topcoats, for the ultimate in textured sparkle.

I used Essie - Good as Gold and stamped with MoYou London Suki Plate 06.
It stamped so fantastically well, look at that awesome coverage.

I can't get over how amazing this combo is. What do you think?
Purple and gold are just made for each other, especially with texture and sparkle thrown in the mix.

It's another foggy day here in Lotusland. Dreamy and cottony.
Not inspiring any kind of activity within me.
What do you have planned this Sunday?
I'm off to make my third cup of tea and to start crocheting like crazy.
Have a great day and an awesome manicure.

Studs & Gleequins, Oh My!

Hey all,
Happy Wednesday :|
I went on a work field trip today. To deal with thousands upon thousands of postcards.
Organizing, labelling and counting. Lifting a ton of boxes. Jamming my hands into paper.
3 wonderful hours. And save for one ugly chip, my manicure held up!
It was a great workout. Not to mention it seemed to keep my creeping cold at bay.
No complaints here. Just body tired. My mind is active though.
The same song still going through it like it has all day.
Just brewed up a mug of... lemon myrtle tea...
I'm getting comfy...
Dancing with Mylie...
Doing whatever we waaant...
...woah.
Did that just come out? :P
Pardon me!

Anyhoo...
I got some new toys recently. So I tested them out with a few simple (a nice word for boring) manis.
First up... Studs!

All I can say is sexy, sexy, sexy.*clap clap*
Everything I wanted them to be!

OPI - In the Cable Car Pool Lane (2 Coats)
Such a beautiful deep burgundy. The formula has just a hint of jelly to it.

And then.. Gleequins!
I was compelled by the silver holographic diamonds.
In indirect light they look like pieces of mirror, and make me think of the Indian fabrics my mother loves.

And in direct light   *KABOOM*   Holographic fantasy.
I took this photo a day or so after painting, and a few of the gleequins had curled.

Cult Nails - Discipline (3 Coats)
This is such a lovely delicate grey. The shimmer is outstanding, flashing from pink to blue to purple.
It's a bit sheer, but regardless, the formula was splendid.

Maybe it's the gleequins lending this mani a space age feel,
but I couldn't help thinking that Discipline must be what alien flesh looks like.
I kept seeing flashes of Roger from American Dad.
What the hell brain?!

Well I hope you enjoyed my boring manis. :P
I really enjoyed wearing them.
Have a great night and an awesome manicure!
